Who were the thickos who reckoned Carroll wouldn't score many in the PL?

thanks for the honesty and simple reply. I'm not sure yet whether he'll fade into the likes of Georgios Samaras or Roque Santa Cruz, he may well do, time will tell.

I'm off to Botswana again on Thursday, can't wait.

nice one , chobe ?

Initially just Maun then into Moremi, but hoping to get a chance to nip up to Chobe again. Only got 2 weeks this time and travelling on the dirt roads is heavy going. I looked at the forecast and it's thunderstorms which could slow progress down a bit.

good luck with that , stay away from the aluminum boats in those thunderstorms, not a good thought getting zapped into water full of hippos and crocs at chobe

oh and carroll is overrated ;)

Just watched that game today against Bolton and he was easily the best player for the mags..no doubt that he is a presence on the pitch, strong, good in the air and with a decent shot.

Mind what I have seen of Gyan...look out..that's a player in an all together different league. Could be another Henry.

There are quite a few players from the promoted sides who are scoring more than most would expect. Not just Carroll, there is also Nolan, Harewood, Varney, Adam and Odemwingie.

Refreshing to see promoted sides come up and just attack most weeks.

Am I allowed to be a pompous t wat and repeat my assertion that the Prem is changing? the gap between the millionaires and the peasants has narrowed and continues to do so.

Except if we're talking players it just means there will be even more millionaires..and fewer peasants

I can't remember what I said (if anything), but I have to say that I have been impressed with Carroll's play (not with him as a person, obviously ) so far this season.

He's certainly a handful and, if Carroll (the player) were in SAFC's colours, we'd be raving about him.

Problem is (for NUFC) that he tends to make the team one-dimensional (ie hooooffff!!!), which competent PL CH's can deal with (such as Bolton's yesterday).

They need someone to play off him to get the best out of him.

Usually its Nolan, but he was anonymous yesterday (oh yes; the opposition had decided to mark him, unlike some teams )

I thought it was clear he looked a top prospect even before his Championship exploits, and I said so on here. Doesn't surprise me one little bit to see him excelling this season. Not often I get them right, mind.
