Now, but who from the past?Funny enough, I was just saying at the weekend that I’m too old to have a favourite player …… but it’s Dan Neil.
JC and Shaun Elliot. QUALITYDan Neil ,Jeff Clarke ,
Stan Cummins. Only man in the world shorter than Little Jimmy Cranky, but what a great player. When we bought him from Boro, Jack Charlton said he would go on to be the 1st Million Pound player.Stan Cummins
John Kay
Marco
Absolutely Spot on cabbage, I thought the world of McLaughlin but, dear me, his distribution was horrendous.McLaughlin was better than Burge but still hugely frustrating. Had a very shaky period in his second season (which he got away with due to credit in the bank) and his distribution was consistently poor - always ponderous and often pointless.
George Herd.Because I know that, secretly, we're all still 8 years old... now that we have a bunch of candidates, for the first time in years, who is your favourite... Winnie? O9? Neil? Embo? Geads? Stewart? Cirkin? Someone else?
For me, it's O9, because I like players who try like fuck. I suspect Dan Neil might replace O9 at some point.
His Franz Beckenbauer-like performances as sweeper at EURO '96, where he scored winners against Russia and Croatia, earned Sammer the European Footballer of the Year award. The first East German to represent the unified Germany, he was twice an East German league winner with Dynamo Dresden then won the Bundesliga three times; once with Stuttgart and twice at Dortmund, where he also claimed the 1997 UEFA Champions League. Coached both clubs after a knee injury forced his retirement, aged 30.Favourite Of all time - Matthias Sammer - the best defender that I've ever witnessed in the flesh not saying he was better but we are talking favourite. Euro 96 the best player on earth he'd get the ball off the keeper and players panicked
Sunderland in my lifetime - Quinn or Phillips
Current - Onion by a mile then in the distance Flannagan
You’re a bit of a melt thought mate aren’t yaWell I hate McGeady, don't care for O'Nien, Gooch drives is up the wall...
So, errrrrr, Doyle.
Ner man, Dan Neil really. But Doyle's up there at present. Plenty time for Flanno anarl.
He's vastly overrated on here that's for sure. However, there's been a lot of pressure on him to deliver especially seeing that a lot of our forward play goes through him and maybe he deserves the benefit of the doubt. He has improved the last few games, mind.
