The list of available managers is small. The list of those who we would be likely to attract is even smaller.

I think ES will surprise us all with someone from abroad that hasn't been mentioned.

Would be shocked to see McLaren or Pullis.

Would love to see us pushing boat out, spending big and pulling off a right coup and gannin for mancini but think he won't come even though I think he would like the set up of transfers out of his hands. Di Matteo I think, from PDC to him will be from chalk to cheese in a matter of a week and I think this will maximise his effect. Seemed like the manager at chelsea, who gets amongst his players, looks after them, good professional. Just not sure if we have the squad.

Think jan will tell us how ambitious short is.

They've stated they want an English head coach. Then again what the board says and what the board does are two very different things lately.

I wouldn't see this as the end of the world and makes the most sense to me with the list of candidates.

I think as Sky Italia have touted Di Mateo then it will be him as they seem to have the inside track.

I think so many many things have have annoyed me about Mclaren my judgement may be clouded. I would worry that many others would feel the same and he wouldn't be given any time at all.[DOUBLEPOST=1379930532][/DOUBLEPOST]

Where? They allow 14 non English speaking players to come in over the summer and then decided they want to change the manager to an English one. When did Frank Spencer take over at the club?

I've gone for Tony Pulis.

Aye, he looks like a tosser in his cap but i'd not turn my nose up at a Sunderland side being hard to beat and the team everyone hates to play against.
It's about time we had a nasty streak instead of just rolling over here, there and everywhere. He also took 'little' Stoke to Europe, something we can only dream of. We'd be flipping awful to watch at times but we're hardly the Harlem Globetrotters at the moment, i'd put up with a few dull 0-0 games here and there if there was a definite plan behind it and signs of progression.

RDM to me seems like an appointment where we'd be looking for another manager in 12-18 months time. Pulis can build something.
Exactly how I feel but people are footballing snobs. We are not an attractive job at all to managers. Pulis would get us solid and hard to beat.

His cap is class by the way man!

RDM for me, would suit all the Italian stuff we have in place, calm and proven

I think i'm past caring, because i just have a feeling its going to be a shocker/dinosaur.

Realistically in our reach, only Di Matteo would vaguely interest me. There is a very good reason why all the other mooted candidates are out of work, and i can't see us going down the compensation route.

I remember a lot of people saying that would be it if O'Neill failed, but given the way he set us up, in the end his dismissal was a relief. I really thought this whole structural change was a breath of fresh air, but this latest failure/premature reaction just seems like an absolute kick in the bollocks from all concerned, and i'm at the end of my tether.

Whoever gets the job, good luck to them - they are going to need it.

I can't see a system that will work with the squad we have painstakingly assembled over the last few windows.

Want to play attacking/expansive football? Most of our squad can't pass water or hit a barn door.
Want to sure it up and become solid and difficult to beat? Most of our squad is weak as piss, and we haven't defended a set piece efficiently since mid way through the Bruce era.
