Out of the list only Di Matteo looks decent, though I'd worry he'd act to softly with the player and see them slip into old habits.

Though with all the different nationalities maybe we should get this guy

On further reflection, for this season, my criteria are now: anyone who can achieve a win percentage of >35% will get my support. This is more criterion than criteria, but, you get my point.

How about looking abroad? Rolando Maran did a good job at Catania last year, but started poorly this year. Unai Emery's Sevilla are struggling. Frank Ruten did fantastically at Vitesse last season but is now unemployed, ex Villareal manager Juan Carlos Garrido is available, Thomas Schaaf once of Werder Bremen is also out of a job. Not saying these men are the answer, but surely someone at Sunderland is employed to actually research managers and find who is available and what they can offer?

Of the two alleged favourites, RDM is well qualified as he has succeeded in a team owned by a chairman with a hair-trigger P45 where a bunch of over-the-hill players hold the power. On the other hand, Pulis has had a lot of experience in getting a load of players who were Sunderland rejects and making them into a mid-table side who are difficult to beat.

I personally prefer Poyet. Nothing says "passion" like a dirty protest.

I'd quite like to see us go for Claudio Ranieri ..... always spouting about wanting to come back to the English PL. ...... but it will end up being Di Mateo or Poyet and we will be in just as much shit as we are now.

Got himself a very nice tax-free job at Monaco. Can't see him swapping Monte Carlo for the delights of Seaburn.
