Season 1983/84 - February 25 - versus Manchester United (a)

It appears (according to statcat.co.uk), that we lost 2-1 at Old Trafford, our goal coming from Lee Chapman in the 16th minute, before a Kevin Moran brace either side of the interval won the game for United.

Drew 1-1 away to Burnley at 2 days old. Pop Robson was the first SAFC scorer in my lifetime.

Incidentally SAFC played on both my daughters Birthdays (beat Norwich in a pre-season friendly and lost to Bolton in the FA Cup replay in 2013)

Also- my youngest is 3 in January- we are yet to drop points to Newcastle in her lifetime

I was born between a 1-1 away draw at Watford & a 2-2 home draw on boxing day v Boro. A season of mid table mediocrity in the old division two.

For what it's worth it took me 6 games 0f attending Roker before I actually saw us score in a live match, but that's cos my dad insisting on only going when we're playing the 'big' teams

Born at beginning of the close season 1936. Just over a week before Sunderland had won their sixth - and last - 1st Division Championship by eight points with Derby County coming second and the Lads scoring 109 goals in the process.

Drew 2-2 at home against Arsenal 3 days before and got beat 4-1 away to Bristol City 4 days after. Bastards.
