Which ground is in the roughest area?

I've been to quite a few away matches, just wondered where people found the roughest and most intimidating (Mags not included)

For me it's Upton Park. Horrible round there. Honorable mentions to Spurs, Boro, Barnsley Burnley and Wolves.

Some of the old timers must have some tales of various skirmishes at old grounds now knocked down?

Or of Roker when away fans tried to give it the biggun.

I like old grounds that are in relatively run down/built up areas, it adds quite a lot to the feel of going to an away game I think. Of those you mentioned:

West Ham - always seemed fine to me, Green Street is policed and there's not much chance of getting a drink along their so I never bother. The immediate surrounding area must be majority Islam by now I imagine.
Spurs - right up there. Really shifty area in general and always feel like trouble could be around the corner.
Barnsley - rough area and people but never had a problem drinking around the centre. Seen Sunderland take over a few pubs with no bother and I've even sat in the home end (though with caution).
Burnley - to my mind the only place I've been where I walked into a pub and walked straight back out again. There wasn't trouble, but it didn't look the kind of place which would welcome away fans so I just didn't bother. Bit of a rough area, like Barnsley.
Wolves - I like Wolves, no problem drinking close to the ground providing you can find somewhere, and the place has quite a traditional feel, probably mainly due to the ground being in the middle of a load of houses.

Brammall Lane....getting pelted from the nearby graveyard with lumps of auld tombstone.

Don't know about rough but Derby's old ground the Baseball Ground was in a proper shit area, old mattresses in the front garden and all that. The streets round Celtic's ground (Parkhead area) take the biscuit for me though, f***ing awful, at least they were in the 90s.

Toxteth area near goodis8n, nasty

Toxteth's nowhere near Goodison Park.

Surprised at the mentions of Villa, seems a decent enough area really and never seen much bother at all. West Brom too. Birmingham on the other hand, bit of a dump. Though I don't mind it all, as it's so close to the city centre.

Ninian Park and Selhurst Park must be up there. The walk to the ground from the centre of the former is a bit weird in that the city changes so much, from being a bustling capital city to what feels like a council estate. The latter is just a bit surreal.

I've never been to Millwall for a game but pass through quite regularly on the train, and it always seems okay. Stoke gets a thumbs down from me, as does Portsmouth and Rotherham's a bit inbred. Sheffield United a bit dodgy too.

The walk up to Leicester station from Filbert street wasn't the best on a dark evening.

When I read threads like this, I often wonder if any fans from other clubs ever thought sunderland was rough place to visit, seen a bit of bother in the roker park days, but that was mainly with lads looking for it, started going in 86 and cannot remember anybody causing too much bother, obviously plebty against the mags & boro over the years but they have never given us any respect in the books I have read.
Roker was an awful place for away fans..don't believe anything mags or boro say, they've had plenty slaps at roker.

Must have been yeah, I was a kid when I went, was losds boarded up shops, off licences with protective screens.

maine road in championship season, loads kids asking to look after peples cars

I remember the old Derby ground (the Baseball Ground ??) was in a right dump - very old, traditional working class, terrraced street area of Derby set against a backdrop of factories and smoking chimneys - but never any bother - for some strange reason they didn't have a "kop" at derby - no "end" that you could take - same as Notts Co - which as a ground was really dilapidated.

spurs, west ham but mainly millwall for me

but the back lanes around kings cross and st pancras

were also memorable battlegrounds of the 70's and early 80's
