Which fans do you respect the most?

Spot on mate. I know a bloke who was born and raised in Northampton, but who’s lived in London since he was 15,.... he’s 58 now.... and goes home and away to follow the Cobblers year in and year out. Talking to him about football is really rewarding! Much rather be in his company than some other glory hunters I can think of.
I find this with crystal palace fans. They love their club. Much more so than the glory hunters of the big London clubs.

When you know the only 'info' they have is from Sky & MOTD you know you've heard it all before.

Mention Sunderland and they know nothing and don't want to know anything, fine by me.

I never mention who I support because I don't want to hear the views of Sunderland from a Cockney Liverpool supporter.

"Does Borini still play for you lot."
I had a bloke claiming to be a massive fan of Man U (from Peterborough) asking me 'what division Sunderland are in again?' Questioned him on how he couldn't know this as a football fan and he claimed it was because he focuses on the key games in Europe. Lol.

Most of my better friends are proper footy fans. By that I mean they've always supported teams like
Fulham
Mansfield
Hereford
Aldershot
It’s great to chat football to them. Rather than the usual Man Utd and Liverpool know it alls

I moved to America mid 80’s & been supporting Sunderland over 40 years....went to most matches in the late 70’s early 80’s through the turnstiles...
I deal with the plastic Top 6 supporters in the US. It always amazes people when they find out I am a Sunderland supporter thou Netflix is starting to give us more recognition....

The Rangers support were magnificent during their comeback trail. Attracting 40,000+ attendances in League 2 and having 30,000 away fans against Queens Park. In the top 20 attended clubs in the world despite being stuck in a footballing backwater. Proper football fans.

They took 30,000 all that way? Why that’s more than 12 minutes stuck on a coach from Ibrox if the traffic’s bad.

Croydon area this is true

He’s an absolute whopper mate, don’t talk to him ever again

Respect any decent generational fan who does or has done home and away since they were kids. One mate is a QPR fan of this ilk. Home and away since the 60's. Just name dropping and a bit of free advertising for him, he runs Modfather in the Stables at Camden Market!

Anyone who supports the team where they were born/grew up deserves respect. Any numpty who supports anything else *without a valid reason is usually just a glory supporting twat. The rare case where someone has a pulling towards a really shit team, for whatever reason, then fair dues.

* for e.g. their father supported a specific team which they grew up watching.

Regardless of the club they are associated with fans who go to games deserve respect. The time, and money, needed to be dedicated to weekly support is huge.
Aside from those deliberately acting the goat, we Newcastle fans are treat no differently to anyone else on here in my opinion.
I spent the last 8-9 years sitting next to a season ticket holder, who also did most away games. He drove to every home game from Dundee.

Good effort that mind. Fair play to the lad.

f***ing mental if you ask me!

On the topic of mental.... I work with an Everton fan who could not bear the thought of watching the derby game in the bar here in Kazakhstan. He flew out the day before and back the day after. 3 days lost wages and a 1500 quid flight.

If it affects your life, like family, hurting when things are bad, joy when things are good. 24/7. That is a real supporter/fan.
