Which clubs if they had the same last decade as us

Would compete for attendances
Very few-
Manure
Liverpool
Saudis
West Ham
Arsenal

We are a massive club.
Spurs
Crowds have went up massively since city were in the 3rd division so of course they would get big numbers now
Living in Sheffield area and a veteran of City v Sunderland fixtures I can think back to the days when about three City fans would be on our train back to Sheffield after the game.
Nowadays every train for a couple of hours after their home games is full and standing with them.

West Ham have sold out to the tourist haven't they?

Sure when they moved to the new stadium they didn't really increase season tickets and now just sell loads to tourists
 Ffs sake the shite that gets posted on here is comical at times.
Is the correct answer. Attendance is relatively meaningless financially these days though. Especially when tickets are some of the cheapest in the division.

Your financials would increase by being in the Prem and your attendance levels would too.

Pissing about talking about attendance levels in the Championship is irrelevant in the wider scheme of things.
Attendance is not meaningless in the FL and Championship. It maybe becomes a bit less important in the PL. So “relatively meaningless” infact that clubs like Liverpool, City, WHU and Spurs are actively attempting to have smaller stadiums.
 As my reply above states FFS

My bad, just looked it up and it's the opposite, could have sworn they went down the Liverpool route for the extra cash.

Attendance income is far from meaningless in the championship. Our tickets are now mid range pricewiise. Apart from that you are correct, dopey mag twonk.

Matchday tickets are up there with the most expensive.
Aye but that’s a different thing to season tickets. Which i mistakenly quoted on. Thats my mistake.

The matchday tickets for aways are 32 quid so assume we pay the same game by game.

I think sheff wed, Coventry, qpr,Swansea and Leicester have all been more than that for us.

Ticket prices across the board are too high.

Not this again . Yeah you have a very good fanbase like other clubs do. It’s a game of what’s ifs but we’ll probably never find out if certain clubs could still pull in big crowds in hard times. I think some on here were more gutted you never hit 40k v Norwich than they were happy with the win.

Only Manure and Saudi in that lot would imo. Remember when the great Liverpool team of the 80’s started their decline - crowds went right down.
Crowds for all clubs plummeted. A combination of a huge recession ( especially on Merseyside ) , increased hooliganism and outdated stadiums with high metal fences that alienated fans.
Villa won the European Cup in 1982 - their average league crowd was 5,000 down on their Third Division season of 1971 72.
Liverpool were still winning leagues when their crowds dropped.
