Watched it on Football First. Wouldn't call it an out-and-out headbutt but intent to stop him in his tracks was definitely there. Suprised they didn't show it on MOTD like. Elmander looked spark out for a minute or so. Certainly worth retrospective action.

Are Newcastle becoming a reincarnation of Don Revies Leeds (without the titles etc of course)? Seems to me, after watching the game today and the debacle at the landfill, they look to kick/intimidate etc people and teams out of the game.

It was very apparent in our game with them that any threat was immediately met with strong arm tactics e,g, elbow on Elmo when he was winning the aerial battle, raking steeds shins, and fouling everytime we crossed the halfway line. Today even Poppins pointed out the tactics they employed to stop Elmander.

The spirit of Charlton, Bremner, Hunter etc can be found at the hotch potch....and to cap it all they have the front to whinge on/write letters:roll: when they get some of their own back. If they had any class they would be

No.

Leeds didn't get caught. And they would have done it in the first five minutes so the player would be hiding for the next 85..
Of course in those days a sending off was a very rare thing.
Amateurs compared to Leeds.

No. They aren't.

Williamson headbutted Elmander off the ball according to their forum and here. no sign of it on super motd.

The whole game was showed delayed here and he definately headbutted elmander and would have been off if the officials had seen it .

Hughton had cleverly identified Bolton's main goal threat then cowardly told his bunch of thugs to get stuck into him by whatever means ...... what I don't understand is why the media aren't labelling Newcastle as 'dirty' when they were so keen to label us earlier in the season.

I watched most of the game on Fox in the USA and I thought the headbutt looked pretty intentional. I'll admit the camera angle could have been better, but in light of the other "wacks" the scum put on Elmander and others (the scum were SHOCKINGLY dirty--cheap shots galore-- Colochini should get more than 3 matches for that COWARDLY mugging  ) I have to say that I lean toward the "intentional head butt" verdict.

They are aptly named as "the scum." I can see them lot imploding as a team if the breaks start to go against them, they're nothing but a bunch of pirates.

Except in 1973 when Pitt did exactly that to Alan Clarke.

Just seen a zoomed in slow mo of the incident on SSN, the defender put his head in as he blocked him, should have been a red IMO, hopefully he'll get a ban.

So just to get this straight, in fact there was no headbut, right?

There was a clash of heads. Whether you see that as a headbutt is up to you. Have a look at it yourself you tedious ingrate.

williamson watched elmander's run and used his head to knock him down.

any news on this or is it to be forever forgotten?

Chris Kamara said something along the lines of Hughton will be upset by what went on in the same way he was with Barton. What a crock of shite, Elmander was obviously targetted and the scouse rat was publicly defended

IMO it was deffinetly intentional. I thought Nolan was lucky not to go too. First yellow for the handball, second for the batge.

Thanks Sky for having the balls to show a close-up of it, as it was pathetic of MOTD to quip about it last night. Sky even froze the screen at the headbutt impact and thats enough evidence for anyone. The commentators suggested the FA might want to take a look at it, although obviously nothing has been said officially. I'd be surprised if he gets away with it tbh.
