Given that the first SAFC 1892 league winning side averaged 8,225..
As a sidenote who are the only 4 teams never to of averaged less than 10,000? ( sure there's only 4) There's a good reason why they haven't averaged less

Don't be bitter because you're a mere 97er Bonny lad!
I even stood in crowds of about 8k in Anglo Italian cup games as well. Musnt have been any buses to roker from horden!
:lol:You dont go to games, never have done , never will. Unless of course its to see your beloved Newcastle, son.

Many on here van vouch for my sunderland allegiance Bonny lad. Even photos of me in the SOL during the 3-0 win other week with lads from this forum.
You've been exposed as a 97er Edward which is fine as I appreciate the early to mid 90s were a hard time to be a supporter with our constant struggles. Some of us went with flow whilst others took a back seat and waited for brighter prospects and surroundings. It's no shame that you fall into the latter.

 This is all you have been talking about ,son. You go to one fcking game and now you are mint. Going on Saturday like son?

As far as I know and in my time supporting the lads, Newcastle have always has better attendances/higher numbers. Including and especially pre-Keegan.

I would like to see a list of both teams highest and lowest 50 attendances for league matches. No point in looking at average attendances as I say, with very few exceptions, year-on-year they have higher support.

What I will refute is they had better support though.

I have no problem with their numbers, well played - good following. As long as I do my bit following the lads - yes I was at the home games v Plymouth and Sheffield United and away games like Bradford in the Full a members Cup at Odsall after the fire.

I would imagine there will be mags who like myself were always there and plenty, like ourselves who came when football became fashionable again. Whether it was Keegan, or the SOL, is debatable. I personally think Gazza and Italian 90 was a bit of a catalyst as well.

Wish we could argue about who won the most major trophies since 1992. Hopefully that excludes Boro with their fluked league cup win.

Genuine question. Were they people just not that interested in football before Sky and Keegan sexed it up for them, or were there loads of traitors from around the North East that defected?
As much as people will call this bullshit.
The Keegan era was a sensation around the country. Someone who wasn't Man Utd or Liverpool, they sold themselves to the sponsors brilliantly they played entertaining football, they made a record signing from under Man Utds nose.
The timing was perfect for them to reach some success. Add to that they had a very good team

Facts are in my signature fellas. 15 years either side of the 'watershed moment' in the uplift (our formation vs your stadium move)

f***ing 1997ers.
Because some of our stands stunk of tabs and piss so it kept the crowds away

Check threads from last season and you will find I was at majority of our home games. People can go to whatever games they choose. What is the obsession with attendances with you?

Weird you like. People absolutely whipping themselves into a frenzy to defend the good name of NUFC and their fantastic Toon Army.

Where is this frenzy?
Also where am I looking to defend the apparent good name of the toon army? I'm just pointing out the reality of the situation. If you want to Ignore the fact they invariably have had and do get bigger crowds than us , use 10k as some yardstick for them whilst ignoring we've had similar numbers and turn a blind eye to our huge upsurge in support whilst highlighting theirs then you crack on Bonny lad. Be sure to Give me a shout when you get that head out of the sand!
