Where were NUFC fans before 1992?

Aye because you could fit 45k into Roker Park in the 80s & 90s couldn't you

What a **** you've been on this thread.

Only on here could a new thread be created mocking the mags [laughable] pre1992 support, and within a few posts turn into 5 pages of online self mutilation - unreal.

We did sell out some games? Why are we so keen and desperate on here to bash our own levels of support? Its weird as fuck. You never hear of mags drawing attention to their pre 1992 gates or their shit cup numbers.

But on here people thrive on it like they have some kind of morbid self loathing complex.
So their pre 1992 support was laughable? Pretty sure it was still invariably more than ours so what are you suggesting ours was?
Also why would we need a 45k capacity at roker when we couldn't sell out anyway? What a ridiculous comment.
Also I'm not knocking any set of supporters here, people will go and won't go for various reasons just pointing out the stupidity in taking the piss over something that can quite easily be flung straight back at you!

Vast majority were over 10k though. Sub. 10k gates very much he exception for us and the mags to be fair

Those above 10,000 were mostly around the 11-13k level though IIRC. The only joyous thing about that season was seeing the back of Brown, and the hope that a new manager brought. (Nothing new there then).

There's a percentage of Newcastle's fan base that switched, at the click of a finger, from supporting Sunderland which, in my eyes, defines 'pathetic'.

It's one thing to return to 'your' club after a period of poor management, crowd trouble, crumbling facilities, etc.

But to go to bed as a Sunderland supporter and get up the next morning to go out for a Newcastle tattoo and adopt a Tyneside accent is inexcusable.

I can't recall this happening anywhere else in such a blatant way.

John Hall was the Pied Piper and the 'Geordies' who came crawling out of the Durham pit villages were the rats.

Just because we get big numbers doesn't mean we have any more right to have a half decent team than any other club.

It should make it a bit more likely though.

No SAFC changed colours round our way but loads who I knew , played football with etc changed their allegience from Liverpool/ Man U/ Leeds to suddenly become mags. When challenged it was I ve always been a n--c----e fan. Were they shite. Bad enough glory hunting with Liverpool etc but to change your team is unforgiveable. SAFC chaging to mags would never get the time of day from me, mind the other ones don t get much. I love asking them if they support Man City yet.

Remember when Hall moved the training regime to Maiden Castle ? All part of his scheme to make scum barca of the north

So its ok to slag the mags for doing exactly what we did ?? Fkn hell, I despise them as much as most, but to try and take the moral high ground is just embarrassing.

You picked a great season to start - relegated for the second time:rolleyes:
They went from 10k to 37k in the same stadium in the space of 4 seasons at a time everyone was blowing smoke up their arse. They were lashing money all over and on Sky every other week.

We went from 18k in a ground that held 20k, to 37k in a new ground at a time we were in a division below, in the mire and a million miles from NUFC on the pitch of off it

But yeah, comparable.

Unreal this board

The big fat NUFC mess was Sunderland as is the clown who runs the Not606 Newcastle forum ....... the turncoats are often the most 'fanatical'.

They did have gates of 10k
Why are you feverently defending them!? It's weird as fuck
As did we. I'm not defending them just pointing out the stupidity of this argument. The fact is the mags have pretty much always had a bigger following than us. Get over it man it's not remotely important. What bothers me is the fact we've win next to fuck all in the last 50 year not petty point scoring over attendances.

Any Sunderland fan who slags off Newcastles crowds is a moron.
Any Newcastle fan who slags offf Sunderlands crowds is s moron.

Some clubs have more supporters than us and some have less.It is correct to say that the mags have had more throught the turnstiles than us if you look through history. Its a stick the mags hit us with.We cannot re-write history.I'm happy with the numbers we get.Not as many as some clubs but more than others. Its called banter .
