Where were NUFC fans before 1992?

Our 92% started when we just avoided relegation to the old Division 3 the previous year. They were both on the back of poor seasons tbf.

iirc pre our 1992 formation we had higher average than you on more seasons than you had on us.

To be fair its virtually impossible to compare because of how the capacities changed. Our capicity doubled from the roker park capacity with the new stadium and then some with the extention. A 116% uplift relects the uplift in available seats so is pretty much as expected

You lot also had an increase in capacity (i think) even before the most recent one. I think the pre '92 support crack is a myth really. I just think yous got louder socially then ;)

NUFC have generally had higher attendances than SAFC. I can quite easily live with this, both clubs have fanbases far better than their recent "success" deserves.

Newcastle yo-yoed between the top 2 leagues much as we did, playing in front of 20,000 people and achieving very little.

We increased our capacity in 2000 but your point is taken as we were selling out more or less (36,500 every league game at least) until the expansion. Our capacity was around 30K prior to the Leazes stand being built.

I have supported the lads for 58 years. The reason I think we are getting more at the stadium is because it is now a family day out. A great improvement.

They were Sunderland supporters. Also Hall played a blinder braying out all this Geordie Nation shite enticing kids from not just the North East area but from all around the country who wanted to see attacking football and a hint of success. Look at all the plastic Mags like Fat Beefy, Graeme Swann and Tony Blair.
No they weren't.

He did, as did I. Can remember being part of a sub-10,000 attendance at Roker circa 94 against some shite on a freezing cold Saturday. Lee Howey scored a hat-trick. Damned if I can remember who it was against. Think it was Buxton in charge.

This is incorrect. The lowest league crowd of that era was 11,661 V Bristol City on 17/12/1994. Still shite like.

Those were the days, I remember a few sub 10,000 gates early to mid nineties. Usually midweek cup games mind.

Completely agree. I dunno why people get hung up on it.
Both clubs average attendances are ridiculous for the football they've endured.

So the mags average 5k or so more than us!? who gives a fuck.

Don't be bitter because you're a mere 97er Bonny lad!
I even stood in crowds of about 8k in Anglo Italian cup games as well. Musnt have been any buses to roker from horden!
Yip

And plenty of sub 10,000 crowds before Stokoe arrived - it was bloody cold.
Before my time that. I remember playing tiggy in the roker end with other Bairns when I was a kid so obviously plenty space to run around!
It still baffles me where everyone came from when SOL arrived mind.

Not this fickle fans only follow NUFC shite again, it happens at most clubs hence when Manure extended Old Trafford they fill it, where were all those "traitors" before that.

Pathetic
