where has my country gone?

It seems what has antagonised you is me arguing my point. We've been here before fella. If you disagree with what I've said I'll debate it. If you throw insults around then I'll hoy some back. Reread our exchanges when you've calmed down and you'll see that you've nowt to be pissed off about.

Your insults are as poor as piss as are your debating skills, but what else should we expect from someone who was awarded a degree for reading comics.

You've had nothing at all in response to points other than piss weak 'insults'.

I know you rate your own intellect very highly. To makes things easier, here is my argument in a single sentence.

Britain has always been defined by its multiculturalism and while immigration into Britain is not without major challenges, the problems are hugely outweighed by the financial and cultural benefits.

If you have a cohesive counter argument to that, then post it.

And I agree with that. In that, I agree with the points based system that we have in place. I also agree that it would be great if illegal immigrants (those who do not satisfy the points based system) should continue to be illegal. EU immigration is impossible to fix without deserting the EU. That's a separate thread, I suppose.

I think we're all in agreement on the broad issue. I also think the reason why this thread and threads like it reach 900-odd posts is that it's not actually about immigration rules. It's about some people not liking certain people from certain other countries. It's about people not having the balls to post - "I don't like Somalis" or "I want Muslims deported for being Muslims". If people actually had the bottle to say what they actually mean, these threads would be over in 4 or 5 posts.

Well i am not happy with our points system as it's not working, that's the reason people are pissed off. I don't hate Somalis, Poles, Asians etc etc at all.I DO hate the fact that they have outnumbered our own on my estate, and people are doing everything to move out.

You threw a few insults yourself. You stated i didn't like brown people, when that wasn't even my argument. You can't always turn something into a racist thing about colour, when i include white Poles and the rest in the argument.
That's the easy way out for people like you.You can't just take the moral high ground when it suits.

If you are comenting on something that affects where i live, then it would be nice to know that you understand that feeling by actually living in the country the OP was taliking about. You do understand the thread title "Wheres my country gone?" stated by someone living in this country. Get my drift Amigo?
I am English, my country as well. I live in a world of fast, mass communication with easy travel. I am well informed and keep myself abreast of developments all over the world not just England or Britain and have an opinion about them. I reckon i am more informed than some of the ignorant comments i read on this board. It is totally irrelevant where i live, i can and will have an opinion.
Do you have an opinion on Iraq, Afghanistan, Scotland, America etc. etc. i am sure you do and it is good that you do. However, what some people are saying is that if you do not live in a country then you should have no opinion about it. Do you agree with that ? Why stop there ? Why should anyone in Sunderland have an opinion or say in events which happen in London or Bristol for example. Perhaps their entitlement to an opinion should stop after Hetton or Washington ! Utterly ridiculous.
Where i live is totally irrelevant to this thread or any other and of no concern to anyone on this World Wide Web messageboard.

britain has always welcomed immigrants, jews, heugonots , etc etc etc

the op was referring to the 2,500,000 net in the last 12 years ,the greatest immigration in this island history, comparing the advantages of immigration (and there have been many) to what has happened without the consent of the british people is asinine at best ,much like your blinkered , self-righteous , smarmy self

a) were you brought up in britain
or
b) have you lived in britain at any point in your life for many years at a time?

is bollocks, it was true of the last wave of immigration in the 50s/60s but not now

I think there was a point in the 90s - probably 92-99 - where immigration got a bit mental. I think rules were not strengthen when they should have been, and illegal immigration was allowed to slip.

Britain has one of the most stringent set of rules in the world now, and the freedoms that exists have been used by yourself.

So - what do you want to happen?

too f***ing late

i think this thread serves to illustrate excatly why politicians are too scared to debate the issue.

its a perfect example of a relevant point hijacked by name calling and points scoring, exactly like in westminster

and much like that, its those who arent directly affected by the issue who shout the loudest

its bizzarre really

 I have an opinion on all them places, and have read and watched programs on them.I would also listen to someone who lived there, and experienced it first hand themselves, and wouldn't think i knew better than them, about how THEY lived.

I was born in Sunderland and have all my family there.I have not lived there though since i was a kid, so i wouldn't say i know what it.s like to live there more than someone who actually does live there.I base my argument on things i see with my own eyes, day in, day out.
