Where has it all gone wrong

Nowt major has "gone wrong" DN,09,Ekwah,Ba were never very good and they've now been joined by 4 of the worst forwards in the clubs history and Bradley Dack.

If a team struggles to score then the manager has to sort the defence so it doesn’t concede. As a former CH Mowbray should know how to sort the defence but it is woeful as evidenced by the goals conceded in last 3 games. Instead of moaning about lack of a striker make sure we don’t concede . Especially true when we play Leeds. We do need a defensive CM and a CF but we can’t get them until Jan so TM needs to sort the system for the players he currently has . Why not Triantis as left CB and O9 in defence midfield mode. Note however the tendency go 09 to rush upfield is potentially part of our current problem.

We are too predictable and take the safe pass almost every time, missing the chance to break. Our tactics make the job so much harder, but we don't have many options when we simply don't have a striker to aim everything at. We seem to rely on low balls into a packed area, and now it's getting really tedious to watch. It takes us 20 accurate passes to get near the opponents goal, forgetting that all our team are now in the opponents half and we're wide open at the back. We're a weak team, we might be taller now but still easily outmuscled, we lose nearly every 2nd ball.

He’s attempting to do it on the cheap as instructed. With an unlimited budget I doubt he’d be recruiting the players he’s recruited from abroad or indeed here.

Understand he has a budget but did we need 4 strikers 3 of them kids and another god knows how many AM's.
I'm still dumbfounded when people think this. The recruitment is light years ahead of what we have had ever.
The premier years of buying old players like wes brown / John O'Shea (good as they may be - on big money with no sell on fees). Few young players, but notable ones like jack Rodwell.
When it was apparent that this strategy of getting players in with no sell on fee was making us go bankrupt, Di fanti had a go and was horrendous in nearly all his signings.

Relegation and debt after letting Moyes get in anchibe and piennar and djillibodji and love (😱😱) and then all the hideous experienced league one signings of Methven and Donald , and at last we have signings that are good.
They all won't work out, some will take time, but it's a plan at least.
We've made money on one already.
I'm nearly 50 and can count on one hand the signings we have profited from (Phillips, pva, bent ? and er, erm , help us out?)

Some people have short memories. It's been 2 poor performances in a row.
This squad untill those games have given us some of the best performances and exciting play I've seen in a Sunderland team ever. And it's all down to the recruitment.

The overall policy has changed for the better agreed doubt thats down to him though.

We don't play attacking football...no running off the ball and through the channels, hence playing wide and safe and hopeful while the strikers have little or no service through traditional movement. When we do get forward we only have 2-3 in the box instead of the two attacking midfielders being in or around the penalty area.

A few months ago, watching us was like being at a great jazz-funk gig. Players supporting and extending each other; unpredictable rhythms; solo brilliance; sexy moves; sparkling pace; and best of all... working the energy of the crowd.
The last few games have been like watching an oompah band.
