Another shout for Daft Punk here.

Although on first listen I immediately thought of the melody from the intro and verse of Pretty Flamingo by Manfred Mann

It is literally identical to the opening of Free Nelson Mandela ffs! Should be the end of the thread.

It's not the right answer though, no matter how many ffs you stick on it.

I can see where you're coming from with that. The first 5 notes, but then Free Nelson Mandela changes. The daft punk one follows the same pattern

The notes are, I think, yes.
Might be a different key, but I think it would transpose almost exactly.

It's the same tune dunno about 'the right answer' whatever that means

It’s not I’ve just written it out. It’s different even when transposed to the same key.

    Basically the OP goes:

    A, G A G; E, D E D; C, B C B; A

Daft Punk when transposed into the same key is:

    A, G A C; E, D E G; C, B C E; A

Not far off but not the same.

Why doesn't someone look up the writing credits for the song. They might help.

I would but I don't really like the song anyway.

Maybe cos the Op was on about the tune reminding him of something that was driving him nuts
But then people are trying to work out where the samples from
    Two totally different concepts!

    I agree it’s a cack song anyway

Sounds similar to one of the gatecrasher classical songs, maybe the beginning of ayla ayla but can't find a video with the intro on.

    Nice one mate

Although I think the fact that I struggled to see any difference in those notes proves my point ;)
