Where are our signings

I wonder if Congerton is revising his buy homegrown players wor proven Premier League players policy given how vastly inflated the likes of Snodgrass and McCormick were or how high Tom Inces wages are alleged to be.

i realise he's a pet project of yours but i don't believe colback was any other than an average hard working player...he wont be a major loss
bardsley will not be missed 1 iota
tbf the last 10 games ki was no miss either
confident we'll get vergini and Alonso back
borini who knows
the 3 in will more than swell the ranks and come 1st game I'm confident we'll be much stronger than last season
right now we are much much stronger than the promoted sides, wba and when debuchy signs better than them lot

Incorrect. Break it down this way, we've got 38 games to play and there's 90 minutes each game. 11 players on the pitch at any time. That means we've got 27,620 minutes to fill at Premier League standard.
The players mentioned, especially Colback, filled up a big chunk of those minutes and they need to be replaced at the same standard before we even stand still. That doesn't even include players like Alonso.

I think you're wrong about Bardsley. He was a key player in us staying up last season. He showed fight and determination when we had none, he was one of the catalysts who helped us turn the corner. Ki was also important for us mid season. Both of these players contributed to us staying up in a positive way at some point. Let's see if they're replaced with similar or better.

f***ing madness isn't it. Without Ellis we would be fucked but some idiots think there is a long Q of billionaires ready to bankroll Safc to world dominance!
Crackers man! :D
The fact that he puts the money in doesn't make him make good decisions though. Now, if he doesn't put the money in, we're just left with his sh1t decisions. What then?

Yeah yeah yeah im a bed wetter blah blah blah.

A third of July gone and not a sniff of any major signing despite a horrendous season last year in the league. So the club are determined to fuck another pre season up it seems. Its all well and good saying we have to be patient but bringing players in August with the season 2 weeks away is shit preparation.

All we hear about during the season is preparing for the next game, tactics etc. Yet it appears ok to sign players 2 weeks before or when the season has begun.

There were very few teams weaker than us last season, get this window wrong and itll be curtains.

We've renewed Larsson's contract FFS !!!! Waddya want ?

Job done :D

Incredible!

I'm sure the man knows he has made some mistakes but we owe him a huge debt of gratitude for what he has done for safc.
It's easy to be a clever shite in hindsight! I thought MON was a cracking appointment, maybe you did too, I was wrong (maybe you were too)

Fully agree with this. We were piss poor at times last year and the 3 new lads dont exactly fill me full of excitment...... need to start seeing cheque book soon or will be very nervy heading into season....times a ticking gus!

It's not incredible to expect people who put themselves in positions of responsibility to accept their failings and to do something about it.

Right now he has a board that hasn't shone, a manager (whom I support) that has yet to prove himself other than lucky in the area of results. (Not questioning his approach, but he has yet to deliver consistently with wins on the pitch), and a DoF who so far has focussed on youngsters. Fair enough, the academy hasn't been producing, but neither have the 1st team, and that is actually where we need to see immediate improvements over what we have.

So, at the present, we are being asked to give the benefit of the doubt to an unproven management team and far from convincing executive - again. I'm glad that Short has been putting the money in. However, I've been called to assess far bigger and more complicated businesses than SAFC. This lot are not as good as average, at best.

Since Short has been involved, the fat b@stard up the road has invested less, taken out millions, and they are still above us more seasons than not.

Our squad is worse now than at the opening of the window last summer. Unless some significant changes happen, we will be in the same situation as last year, but without a madman as manager. Nobody knows if there is a plan, only that Congerton and Poyet have discussed things, but the signings so far have been low level maintenance.

I remain a fan as I have been for over 40 years, but I am realistic about what is going on. I'd like to think there are years of happy times ahead. Can't see it the way things are being run. But that's just my opinion.
