Where are our signings

Yeah yeah yeah im a bed wetter blah blah blah.

A third of July gone and not a sniff of any major signing despite a horrendous season last year in the league. So the club are determined to fuck another pre season up it seems. Its all well and good saying we have to be patient but bringing players in August with the season 2 weeks away is shit preparation.

All we hear about during the season is preparing for the next game, tactics etc. Yet it appears ok to sign players 2 weeks before or when the season has begun.

There were very few teams weaker than us last season, get this window wrong and itll be curtains.
You have to realise it's cool to look as tho' your not worried about the lack of signings.

Did I say either of those?

I'm quoting what Oatway said and that what they wanted to happen hasn't so far. There were sources elsewhere saying he wanted the majority of his players in for the start of preseason. At the very least they should be in before the trip away to give them time to bond.

Poyet himself said he had already identified targets towards the end of the season, yet we are still very very short on numbers.

So if Poyet and Oatway said that our aim is to get players in early, surely we can assume that outside factors are more of a reason why this hasn't happened?

We can assume what ever pal.

But it's clear it isn't going to plan.

Targets should have been sounded out and had a pretty good idea they would be keen on the move.

So what if a target has 3 or 4 clubs interested. Would you insist that he chooses us or we move on already, or wait it out a bit longer?

What if the club isn't ready to sell until they have a replacement lined up? Would you move on to target number 2 already?

What if the player is playing at the world cup?

Not one single club is even half way through their summer business at this point. Every single year, clubs sign players right up until the deadline because it's not nearly as simple as you think.

This isn't my opinion mate.

This is the words of Oatway and Poyet, what they wanted to do and when they wanted players in.

Those players aren't in yet, which suggests that their original plan isn't going as expected.

We finished 14th.

Yep. And since then we have lost 13 players, including every left back on the books, arguably our player of the season in Borini, an important defender in Vergini, and two regular starters in midfield in Ki and Colback.

The only signings we have made have been a keeper (arguably no better than the one we had), a right back (probably about on a par with the one we had), and a 29 year old midfielder from the Championship on a free.

There are five weeks to go until the start of the season and we are way behind having the squad that we had that even finished 14th.

We have not got a left back on the books, our only central defenders are either in their mid-30s or are utter gash, there is no sign of any new signings on the horizon, even though clubs are back for pre-season, and indeed it looks highly likely that the next moves will be out (ie Scocco and Graham).

Meanwhile the local club mouhpiece in the press is still talking about the need to cut costs abnd get rid of deadwood.

Of course things can change quickly - I hope they do - but at present it appears like we are hoping that things will fall into place, when there are plenty of signals to suggest we won't get Alonso, and we won't get Borini.

Of course we don't know what is going on behind the scenes, but right now there is every reason to be concerned - and that will remain the case until we can honestly say the squad is better than the one that somehow avoided relegation. Currently, we are about 4 players short of even that squad.

I said this 3 weeks ago and got copious amounts ferocious responses. Looks like we're finally beginning to agree now..

I'll accept apologies in advance.

Cheers :cool:Boilermaker:cool:
