Where are our signings

You can't just pick a player you want and get him, that's not how it works.

Assuming Borini is our number 1 target - Liverpool won't sell until they have players in for his position. At the moment they might not have the finances free to buy a replacement so they have to wait for Suarez to leave. Then the player they want (Origi) has been on international duty so he will be away having a break while Liverpool agree a fee with his club and then start talks. then we have to agree a fee with Liverpool. Then Borini might want a bit of time to think things through. If it all goes well, we get Borini. If not then the process goes again with our second choice target.

Would you rather we paid stupid money to get people here instantly or move on to our back up targets and so in if we don't get a deal sorted out in a week?

That's all assumptions though, you don't know Borini is our number 1 target, Borini may have made it clear he doesn't want to come.
Gardner and Chris Baird, really?

Joeleon Lescott, better than any defender on our books

Yeah yeah yeah im a bed wetter blah blah blah.

A third of July gone and not a sniff of any major signing despite a horrendous season last year in the league. So the club are determined to fuck another pre season up it seems. Its all well and good saying we have to be patient but bringing players in August with the season 2 weeks away is shit preparation.

I don't want to worry you any more but a 9th of July has almost gone now anarl

Just looking at this (http://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/poyet-keen-to-do-transfer-business-early.926074/) thread and we haven't really come much further forward.

It was Oatways own words about getting players in before Poyet did his punditry.

While I agree there's still a load of time, surely having players in as early as possible is the way forward, given Poyets own desire to play a specific way and have the players comfortable with it.

We could go and sign five players next week, no one know what's in the pipeline.

For once I have complete confidence in the club getting the job done over the summer and think Gus and Congerton will see us right.

Nee need to panic just yet marra.
Complete confidence, thats risky.

Lad's got a point. I was playing Football Manager last night, which some have dubbed the most realistic Football Management simulator in the world, and sorted the squad out in an hour or so.

As usual, SAFC sit with their fingers up their arses all summer instead of grafting.

So then we have to go and find a second target. Seriously, how quickly do you think the club can do this? The players signed already fit into 5 categories:

1) Free Agents
2) Signings for big clubs (always the first big transfers to happen then everyone picks up the scraps)
3) Players that clubs have paid far too much money for to get early (Snodgrass, McCormack)
4) Players that have moved from smaller clubs/countries to bigger clubs as the bigger clubs shave all of the pulling power (De Jong, Tadic)
5) Players that no one else really wants (Emnes)

Players not in these categories take longer as transfers aren't a simple process.

Club have set out to do something, failed.

Yet people on here confident they'll get the right players, with even less time.

Probability of having a good season have reduced in mathematical terms due to the inactivaity, yet Im being negative for wanting us to do well. I suppose that's Sunderland fans for you though.

That's a myth though. Plenty of deals have been done already with clubs our size.

Mags, Swansea, Hull, West Brom have all done better business than ourselves so far.

.. looking at the number of signings by club, it's much of muchness for the most part .. so you want it both ways .. Hull are spending a bit but that's not surprising due to them being in Europe and we all know old Brucey pays over the odds for the most part ..

.. your wrong, the bigger fish always go after the big competitions and that always has a knock on effect. It's no myth ..

Do you think the club have not made approaches for any players? Do you think they're all on holiday and couldn't give a shit?

Did I say either of those?

I'm quoting what Oatway said and that what they wanted to happen hasn't so far. There were sources elsewhere saying he wanted the majority of his players in for the start of preseason. At the very least they should be in before the trip away to give them time to bond.

Poyet himself said he had already identified targets towards the end of the season, yet we are still very very short on numbers.

So if we bought Van Wolfswinkel tomorrow rather than Van Persie in a month, we'd have a worse season, mathematical probability speakingwise?

.. agree with that apart from the complete confidence bit. Seen us fook it up too many times and too many false dawns to have that .. still I'm not going to knock them before a ball is kicked, just can't see the point in that sh1te ..
