What's best to do on Saturday? - Drink wise

Can't think of many things worse than spending 10-12 hours on a supporters bus. Then again, the trains don't sound much more pleasant.
There isn't a nice way to get to Wembley and back from the north-east unless you spend a small fortune and make a weekend of it unfortunately. Driving won't be much quicker either once you factor in the tube before and after.

I changed our Wembley Premier Inn booking to Saturday only.

So it's 8am on train from Penrith to Euston, as quick as possible from Euston to Wembley, throw bags in hotel and probably just drink in there if I can blag my mate in.

Just arranged to meet a mate and a bunch of his friends at the Argyle Arms on Argyle St.

It's right outside one of the Oxford Circus tube exits.

Be there from 11:00ish probably (maybe earlier). More the merrier I guess!

Think we're meeting in Kilburn, heading the ground for 2ish for last couple there. Been dishing out advice/shit on here all weekend but haven't really considered what I'm doing myself!
Kilburn or Kilburn High Rd tube stop? Or are they close?

Edit - just seen there’s a Kilburn Park too!

From memory the beer in the stadium was marginally cheaper than the beer outside, had the footy on, plenty of space and a good atmosphere. So if you’re around Wembley, actually going inside may be the best shout

While I have you mate - best way to get from Wembley back to Gatwick straight after the game?

My own research suggests tube from Wembley to London Bridge on the Jubilee line, then hop onto a train (Thameslink/Southern) from there to Gatwick?

Probably looking at giving myself a couple of hours in total to do it, yeah?

I'm stopping in Ickenham, there's a spoons 5 minutes from the hotel so we'll have a few pints and something to eat in there. Head off for Wembley about 1. I'm guessing the tube will have a canny few Wycombe fans on in that part of London.

Aye that's exactly how I'd do it. Get on the Jubilee and off at London Bridge, or Met line and off at Farringdon. The change at Farringdon is easier, but it's not much different.

It'll take about 40 mins to get from the stadium onto a tube, then an hour or so from there to Gatwick. 2hrs will be fine.

Did you get sorted for a ticket alright in the end?

I assume metropolitan line to St Pancras or Farringdon would be easier and quicker.

We’re parking at Wealdstone with 600 other Sunderland fans. Beers, barbecue and free parking. Absolutely belter idea imo.

Brilliant, thanks for that mate.

Aye, all sorted with tickets thanks to @jsdftm04.

Few of the lads struggling to make our minds up, not sure on whether to get down to the Wembley area early and go to the pubs or to stay in central London until 12/1ish. My only worry is that there'd be next to no atmosphere away from the ground, so was just wondering what people are doing.
drinking is a waste of a day
