Always thought that if I could afford to live in central London then that Clerkenwell/Farringdon area would be a good choice. You are walking distance or a couple of stops on the Tube from loads of places. What with Crossrail opening soon it's going to be one of the best connected places in London.

Lived in the St Pauls area/Barbican a couple of times - great area.
 
We're in Ruislip at JJ Moons. Quiet for now but I think once people move up from the football ground they'll have one in here.
 
Be warned all pubs inc green man now turning away. There’s a little pizza place called ecco’la turn right out the station serves beer that’s relatively quiet, has a beer garden
 
And Dylan, I've got a ropey live Alternative T.V. album recorded there with Genesis P Orridge bitching in the background.

Never realised Dylan aswel. I’ve seen a couple of bands there but never had pint in bar bit. Good venue.
