What would be your preferred colours for an away kit next season

Sent it in an e-mail yesterday

Got this response this afternoon...

Thank you for your recent email and the attached idea for an away kit design.

We do appreciate the time you’ve taken on your design and it’s always great to have such positive input and feedback from supporters.

Our kits for the 2011-12 season, however, are already in production. The lead-in time for kit manufacture can be anywhere between 6-9 months, so designs and samples must be signed off almost a year in advance in order to meet launch date targets.

We know how immensely proud Sunderland fans are of their club colours and hopefully you will approve of the new shirt designs once we are in a position to release them publicly.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your ideas with us.

I wouldn't stop emailing due to this. The shirts may have been picked for next year, but if they get enougth of a responce well thought out emails explaining why. It may convince them to change there minds especialy if they think the profit would out weigh the work involved. There are also future seasons as well.

I have not sent an email yet but I will definatly write one up.

at least I'd like to presume this means we will get the new kit before the Summer hols instead of after - with a shelf life so short I'm never buying a shirt in August again...

Wouldn't get your hopes up, I remember us voting for the 15 point season kit nearly a year in advance as they said it had to be signed off by October. Iirc that kid didn't come out til well after the start of the next season.

Love the current one, and its sold out everywhere n arl so is obviously popular. Wouldn't mind a purple or green one.

I really don't understand the project timeline for a new kit. Presumably each club's kits are run as a batch, not constant switching around of materials, templates and settings. So some should be ready very early and others maybe tighter. Are we really that low down the priorities? As one of the bigger shirt sales clubs I doubt that. And how can they ever hope to schedule in new stock production of, for example, an unexpectedly popular away top? And how do they deal with kit sponsorships that may not be settled until late Spring? All a bit strange.

Or (sorry to be cynical) they played too safe and just didn't order enough?
