I would love to think Martin Hannett did it but what was it.

Recently getting into Brian Eno and it could have been him, anyone heard the big ship by eno, class.

Why?

Tricky one.
Depends on your definition of electro.

You've got 'Popcorn' by Hot Butter that certainly had traits, but when the genre was actually getting termed 'electro' by magazines like The Face, you'd probably have to think of 'Planet Rock' by Afrika Bambaataa and stuff like 'Hip-Hop Be Bop (Don't Stop) by Man Parrish.

There's also stuff like 'Moscow Discow' by Telex.

And when you throw Kraftwerk into the equation...

Moogs were the first synths to be used on records. In mid 60s iirc

Think he means electronica if he's on about Eno.

Kraftwerk surely gave birth to it, with help from composers like Stockhausen

Planet Rock, Kraftwerk and funk were the main influences on Electro. Planet Rock even samples Kraftwerk.

Some argue Kraftwerk were Electro themselves, but I'd just called them an Electronic Pop group - an influence on all Dance music sub genres but not part of any.

The first synths were owned by pretty wealthy people, look at Jarre, Vangelis, Eno, Bowie etc etc

No bedroom antics back then

Kraftwerk certainly had the beats that the black kids latched onto.
The amount of time that 'Numbers' has been sampled...

When the Dark Side Of The Moon suite was performed in 1972 (before the album was released), it went under the title "The Travel Sequence" and was, instead of a complex electronic instrumental, a more simple guitar jam.
