What the biggest lead you have seen Sunderland pull back or throw away

Didn't Wimbledon once comeback at us with three goals in the last ten minutes? or was it Watford, can;t remember now but I do recall three very late goals from a team starting with W !!

same season, we were 3-0 up at tottenham and it ended up 3-3

Aye that was a shocker see to recall Pascoe scoring for us (second time i have mention his name in two days after fogetting he ever lived for 15 years) and Walsh getting the leveller late on. Gutted.

Can't remember the year, might even have been a dream, but I am sure we came back from 4 nil against Exeter in a cup game yonks ago.

Edit ; just checked and I am talking bollocks.

We were 2 down with 10 minutes away to them in the to go in the Littlewoods Cup must have been 1988ish maybe. Gates got two to draw 2-2 i think.

Reminds me of Arsenal a few years back.
They scored a 3rd after about 20 min and it was "oh shit, here we go..." It then gets disallowed and we get back to 2-2 until the last 10 min. I was in the Arsenal end and they were going mental.

Unlucky to get beat 3-2 in the end but a great game all the same.
I'd never settle for that result these days of course ;)

 Which game was that? I remember the 2-2 when McCann scored.

Can't believe we've got to five pages and nobody's mentioned the final league game of the 1986/87 season against Barnsley.

A game we needed to win to avoid the play-offs (going down this time) and ultimately the ignominity of a season in the third division.

Two nil up and a penalty to take all seemed rosey in the world. Proctor misses the penalty, Barnsley then with their tails up go on to win 3-2 with ex Sunderland player Roger Wilde getting the winner.

The consequences of that defeat has left a blot on our history that can never truly be eradicated.

A few months later McTwat was interviewed and accepted no responsibility what so ever for the relegation and said it was all because Proctor missed that penalty. Jeez I despise that gonk

I seem to remember a disaster at the SOL against QPR - was it just a late crumbling 2-0 into 2-2 or did we lose? It felt like a loss.

Cruising to a 3-0 lead at half time down Fratton park thanks to a Marco hatrick. Finished 3-3.

One of the goals was an absolute screamer from, similar to the one he scored against Norwich the following year. Was it definitely a hat-trick, i'm sure Paul Hardyman scored a penalty down there 1 season.

Port Vale away 3-3 91/92.

We nearly did it again a season or two later down Notts County. At that time it was unreal that we could get back from a goal down, never mind 2 or 3.

IIRC Notts County were 3-0 up aat half time and they had a man sent off

Good Friday live on Sky that game, Mike Sheron defo got one for QPR in fact I think he may have got both them

2-0 down vs Huddersfield at Roker in 1995 or 96, Bridges coming off the bench to score 2 goals and bring it back to 2-2.

I hate to be pedantic but in that game it was 2-1 down with around 15 minutes to go. Bridges came of the bench to score two to seal a 3-2 win.

They were down to 10 men for the whole of the second half after Ben Thornley got sent off after throwing the ball at the referee while walking off the pitch for the half time interval.

Ten men or not they still managed to score to make it 1-2 prior to Bridges late show.

He did get both. Think Quinn got ours, I always remember it was pissing down after the game.

Not sure if it's been mentioned before but Burnley away in Keane's promotion season. 2-0 down until 75 mins into the game and pulled two back.

Tottenham home in the second 7th place season. 2-0 up at HT and managed to concede three in the second half, sure that Gary Doherty got two
