MBH will know no doubt but didnt we come back from 3 down at roker v villa I think c 1971 and debutant chico hamilton got a hat trick in a 4-3 win?....otherwise the walker 3-2 v ushited...what a first half!

Think that one was against Preston, same season as the 4-3 comeback against Burnley. Chico came on as a sub late on and headed the winner at the roker end, not a hat trick.

We drew 3-3 at Port Vale after being 3-0 down in the es arly 90s.And yes we were 4-2 up v WHU so scratch that.
That's the game I was thinking about. I was there, it was in 1991, and we were 1-0 down at half time, and they increased their lead to 3-0 in the 2nd half, but we clawed our way back to draw 3-3 through Brady (2) and Bally, and we almost won it late on when we hit the bar.

Personally, it's probably the 3-2 win over Man U.

I don't think we've ever won a game when being 3 goals down at half time. Best was a 5-5 draw with Liverpool when losing 4-1.

Think we've also only lost one when being 3-0 up at half time. That was our 2nd ever game in 1890 when Wolves beat us 4-3.

We beat both PNE & Burnley in 1971/72 4 v 3 with us being 1 v 3 down in the burnley game. Just checked on stat cat and Hamilton never notched a hat trick for us but he did score in the PNE game.

didnt see this before I posted but yes I think this is the game that the lad was on about.

Poor memory from you ............ never ;)
I shouldnt rely on memory because every time you do you get pulled up.

Seen us win 3-2 from 2-0 down and lose 3-2 from 2-0 up, never seen any greater turn around than that as far as I can remember.

As mentioned by toosb Port Vale away 3-0 down Beagrie & Brady tortured them second half and we got back to 3-3.

Can remember Mags being 4-0 up down QPR once at half time & ended up drawing 5-5!

Port Vale away 3-3 91/92.

We nearly did it again a season or two later down Notts County. At that time it was unreal that we could get back from a goal down, never mind 2 or 3.

Remember getting beat off Leeds in '65 2-0 then we scored three in nine minutes...two by Crossan and the one and only first division goal ever scored by Brian Clough.

Game ended 3-3. Probably come back from more than that many times but the atmosphere was amazing..and for a few minutes people thought Clough could make it back. Pity he didn't.

I seem to recall many years ago at RP being either 0-3 or 1-3 down to Burnley (?) with about 10mins to go and coming back to win 4-3 with Joe Baker scoring the winner.

Or a meringue?

2-0 on both counts. A 3-2 win at WBA was memorable in 1998-99.

3-2 defeats Derby away in 1986,Barnsley at home in 1987 and Spurs at home 2001 were all very hard to take.

Not personally witnessed but we lost a 3-1 lead at Carlisle in 1971-72(losing 4-3) IIRC and won 4-3 after being 3-1 down at home the same season - not sure who against.

Also, weren't we 3-1 down in the Kieron Brady match v WHU?

IIRC there were a few games that we lost in a similar fashion that season, which ended up in that relegation. I'm sure we missed penalties in at least 2 of them anarl which made it worse, or am I getting mixed up?

Remember that game as it was one of the very few times I had to leave early due to an appointment. Left ground about 4.30pm (when games always finished at 4.40pm) and we were 1-3 down. As I ran for the bus, could here roar as each goal went in. As I reached bus stop after about 10mins, thought I could hear a roar in the distance..was confirmed by bus driver.
Was ecstatic and gutted at the same time.

Can remember that notts county one well, i was sat near the back and there was a woman in front who slept for 80 minutes of the game.

Can't remember the year, might even have been a dream, but I am sure we came back from 4 nil against Exeter in a cup game yonks ago.

Edit ; just checked and I am talking bollocks.
