What on earth has happened to our club?!!

Midfield
Absolutely shambolic

we should be the Liverpool/City of this league. Setting the standards when it comes to everything!

the way we play
the players we have
A positive, forward thinking manager who has great potential
A club who can attract anyone and who can also blow any other side out of the water if necessary.

how on earth is it going so badly wrong.

Last season was a decent enough start. We’d stopped the rot, put in some good performances, two trips to Wembley and had a good enough squad to make you think.. if we add a handful of batmans for a change rather than robins we’d all but guarantee promotion. Not having enough players who can change a game, who can do something out of nothing has been our problem for as long as I have followed the lads.

and once again we sign a load of shit and appoint a clueless, uninspiring manager.

Owners don't understand football and how to set these standards at such a big club. Have cut every single thing to the absolute bone meaning that expectations and professionalism have took a huge hit. Made key, errors in staff and player recruitment.

It's a mess and I don't see it changing.

We aren’t a team.
Haven’t been for years. Even last year we were a collection of players.
No teamwork, no off the ball movement. Anybody who can sort that out should be given the managers job.

All the above are true. However, Parkinson is the key error. He has taken a play off team and changed them into a team which goes to the 15th placed team and sets them up with 5 defenders to try and scrape a point. He needs to be challenged on that in the next press conference (he won't be though). I presume he joined the club with the task of achieving immediate promotion - how has he changed a play off team into one which thinks it isn't good enough to go to Gillingham?

We had a dour, uninspiring and defensive manager in Ross and we have replaced him with someone worse. If we had gone for Ainsworth or Stendel who had inject a little positivity and self belief we may be in the top 2 now or at least in the play offs, with a little money to spend in January and some optimism. Get a decent, positive manager in and things would not look so bad. Last year was a massive disappointment. This year has become a self inflicted wound which, it appears, can only be rectified by holding up hands and admitting the mistake. It is very telling that 2 of the other candidates we looked at have both got decent jobs - they would NOT have done as badly as Parkinson.

Last season we had a team which was nearly good enough to get promoted and a manager who was slightly negative in his approach.

We let several of our best players leave and replaced them with weaker ones, and we brought in a manager who is more negative.

Its no surprise that we are doing worse, the strange thing is how the people at the top ever expected this to work.

Sacked a manager that looked nailed on to have you in the promotion mix. With every passing day, that decision looks increasingly ridiculous.

It is starting to become painfully obvious how good a job he was doing with such a f***ing shit squad. A squad that is definitely worse than the one which finished 5th last year.

Let down awfully by those in charge of player recruitment. He was also never given a properly defined budget to work with according to Nick Barnes.

A wise man once said....

“So be careful what you wish for
'Cause you just might get it
And if you get it then you just might not know
What to do wit' it, 'cause it might just
Come back on you ten-fold“

If that rumour was true about the parents of the academy kids being asked to pay for the petrol of the bus to take them to games, then it's all anyone needs to know...

According to another poster who knows one of the academy parents, it's not true. I find it really sad that people start rumours like this - things are bad enough without the need for gratuitous shit-stirring.

The shocking thing is that we’re where we belong at the moment. Dodgy referees, other teams raising their game for their cup final, and general shithousery can’t even be used as an excuse this year. We’re shot to bits and staring down the barrel of a relegation battle.

You're spot-on, none of that can be used this year. Last year teams were raising their game against the big boys and getting in our faces. Now, Evans' teamtalk was done when our team sheet came out as they knew we didn't fancy ourselves. We were going there to nick a point and the transformation to big standard League One club was complete.

I've seen it reported as being the biggest budget ever for a L1 team.

Dunno if true
