What is ? (your ideal life)

Some people want to be millionaires and have all the trappings..

others are happy to work 9-5 in a factory.

If money wasn't an issue at all.

How would you live your life?

Would live in that island/Beach house from weekend at Bernie's.

Speedboats, floating parties, booze, attractive women etc would even want that daft electronic car thing for mooching about.

Some people need a bit of mental stimulation to be happy, I dont. I could live on a beach with a drink for all my days.

Had to think about this as I am quite happy at present, job is OK, Family is good, I'm not well off but not poor either, have a few holidays a year, both kids are decent lads....maybe want a bit more money and maybe a four day week to play a bit more golf....

As long as the family are healthy and happy, that will do for me....but I don't want to become a burden when I'm old, I'd rather die than have to be looked after, I have nothing but respect for people who look after elderly loved ones but I don't want that for my wife or kids....

Having said all that, a EuroMillions win with enough so I could sort out all my family and friends would be class....

Probably pick and choose when to work. Travel the rest of the time
Property abroad would be nice
tell me more..wha work would you like to do and travel where and why?
Buy a tropical island and make myself king.

Spend my days fannying about in the sea.
wow, thats simple, love it
I'd live a life of self sufficiency on a small farm.
whats a small farm to you may be a huge farm dor another...tell me more
With Felicity Kendall?
is she still alive?
My Wife and I have always discussed a couple of business ideas but we are both too risk averse to put either into practice without having a massive cash balance behind us.

There’s an “imaginative play” centre over in Fife that attracts customers from all over Scotland and there doesn’t seem to be anything like it and we think something similar in Dundee would rake in the coin.

I’d also like to run a brew pub. My ideal location has recently been leased and turned into an Indian restaurant, but the restaurants in there never seem to last long. My suburb has 3 pubs - one CAMRA type pub that makes most of its trade from food and 2 “old man” “spit and sawdust” pubs that only really cater to their regulars. There’s a gap in the market for a trendy craft beer/cocktail pub for 25-40 Year old who want a relatively quiet night out without having to bus/taxI to the next suburb, especially given the number of new build housing estates that have popped up over the last 5 years which are full of that demographic. Businesses that appeal to that age range are well needed here, as illustrated by the success of the 2 “proper” coffee places that have opened over the last 3 years - before that we just had a couple of “tea rooms” where the OAPs would go for a cup of tea and filter coffee was the only option.
WOW, I love and hate ur first comment

If you cant take a risk you will never do business - ever

Carry on with my IT Consultancy, but maybe 3-6 months a year (which would be enough once the mortgage is done and the kids have left)
See more of my 2 favourite countries - Canada & Italy

Yeah but we are both pretty comfortable at the moment. Making decent money in jobs we don’t mind and we both have good work/life balance. We came into some inheritance a couple of years back and did discuss the possibility but decided to use it to buy a new house instead. If we hated what we were doing and didn’t have the WLB we’d maybe be more inclined to step out a bit.

I’d love @Gillythedilf s life, perfech house/wife/kids/neighbours, an island in the kitchen, an atrium, false hair, clothes out ready when you wake up, a mobile toilet everywhere you go, the list is endless.

Can't grumble ATM as have a relatively content existence as it is - time would be the one thing I'd like, time to see the kids grow up and how they do in life, time for me and the missus to enjoy not working etc

So basically good health and a lottery win 😂

That’s a belting idea. The Active Kids place in Perthshire is a goldmine too. It’s very similar to East Links Farm in Dunbar but half the price. Would be a great business.

Smallholding by the sea, not a farm, just a bunch of animals (probably fair few rescue animals) wandering about for no reason other than it pleases us to see them every day. Keep on with doing the kind of stuff I do outside work, creative and volunteering, only more of it because I'd have the time and energy without the vampire that is the day job sucking it all out.

Again, sounds similar to @cornish mackem

Except he kills and eats the animals
🤨

I’m a man of simple pleasures.
Just want health and nee stress for me and my family.
Not bothered about having tonnes of money, more than happy just to have enough to live without worrying about finances.

Sounds similar to what @cornish mackem is doing
that doesnt sound too distant

sounds very achievable soon
Time for myself. Time for the family. Travelling. Sunshine. Reading. I think I'd like a boat too. Nothing flash just a day boat I can anchor up in a nice blue cove.
easily achieva\ble
I'd like to live in St Ives Cornwall during our summer months and San Pedro in Belize the rest of the year, occasional trip back to see (as above) the lads get beat, preferably away games. Do something for charity as well as swim in the sea, read and watch sports on the biggest TV possible with an endless supply of grog. Happy Days.
lefty? asking for a friend?

I reckon you all know mine. Fly to somewhere nice.

That and get a job. One I enjoy where I’m working for the company and not an agency.

And be thinner and fitter than I am now.

I still find it absolutely bizarre that people include any type of work in their ideal life plan.
We’ll always work, it’s inbuilt into most of us and keeps us sane. The difference is that with money or retirement you can do the work you enjoy, whether that be grafting in the garden/allotment, tinkering around restoring old stuff or whatever floats your boat. We’re not programmed to do nowt whilst we still can.
