What is your favorite Star Trek series?

DS9 is forever tainted due to the way they ripped off the Babylon 5 story concept JMS had sent the Star Trek people and effectively made it without crediting him.

TNG probably the best series at its peak, but not without its flaws in the early and later seasons (Beverly Crusher falling in love with a ghost in a Scottish cottage anyone?)

Strange New Worlds has a lot of potential. The first season's been a great start. Finally a new ST show that actually feels like Star Trek.

Lower decks is very good too.

Voyager ahead of DS9, too many annoying unnecessary characters in the latter for me like Jake or Vic Fontaine.

Voyager had great potential but didn't quite live up to it. Main problem was the infinite supply of weapons, shuttle craft and equipment for repairs.

And Threshold is one of the worst Trek episodes ever.

People forget how bad TNG was to start with. It was only after Best of Both Worlds that things improved. Roddenberry dying also helped the writing as he stopped interfering.

Aye I’m in the middle of rewatching them (currently near the end of series 3) and this one has been much better than 1 and 2.

DS9 is my favourite ST and I think it stands reasonably well apart from Babylon 5.

That being said...

The latter is far superior in almost every respect.

TNG
VOY
SNW
TOS
DS9
ENT
TOS: Animated
DISCO

(I’m a lover of all things space Sci-fi, so I’d be working out where the likes of Space 1999, Who, Battlestar, Buck Rogers, B5, Space: AAB, UFO, etc would fit around the Trek series)

I never thought I would get used to Riker, Picard, Data and Worf after always seeing Kirk, Spock and Sulu. I did.

But for theme tune Enterprise was the best.

TNG
DS9
TOS
SNW

I'm surprised that how many rate DS9 over TNG mind. Nowt is comparable to Picard's and Mr Data's exchanges!

All of the series have duffer episodes tbh. The writing standards of TNG far outstrip the rest imo.

TNG was the peak for me. Absolutely massive at the time from memory. Couldn’t see a sci fi shoe ever being as popular again due to the absolute barrage of content now.

I used to love TNG as it was the one I grew up with however re-watching it at the minute at the early seasons especially haven't held up well in my opinion. We give Shatner stick for hammy acting but if anything the first 2 series of TNG were far worse "I'm going to.....the battle bridge *Drum plays*. DS9 was really good especially when the Dominion war kicked off.

Of the new one's Lower Decks for me is the better one, especially series 2, SNW is a close 2nd though. I'd give Prodigy a go though, although a kids show it's really well put together.
A bit of trivia. Originally they planned to make a second season of the original, but that became films. They had drafted scripts for quite a lot of episodes. Many of the first two seasons of TNG were originally written as TOS episodes. That is why you have Riker as another Kirk type, strong, a fighter and one with the ladies. Data is clearly Spock etc.

It vastly improved when they ran out of old scripts, and Rodenbery stopped being involved.

Well known within the community of course.

I think that only happened because of star wars success. The cost of an entire TV series at the time vs the cost of the film might have influenced the decision of looking to the silver screen.
