and can we afford to keep players like Khazri, Lens and Kone if clubs don't meet our valuation of them?
I will start.
Our previous annual wage bill was around 77 million. With relegation confirmed nearly every player excluding one has a compulsory 40% wage reduction in their contracts. That reduces the bill to around 46 million. To operate at a profit this year we would need to get that down further but I suspect we would be looking to get it down to around 30 million for this year.
We have released around 12 players ( correct me if I'm wrong ) with us losing big earners Defoe, Borini and Januzaji who would have been on a conservative 150k a week collectively. So that knocks another 7 million off the wage bill. I believe the remaining players of Lescott, Pinnaer , Manquillo , Anichebe, Larsson, Denayer, Mannone, Pickford, Buckley,

Just to finish off the post ffs.
The players in my last sentence would be on around (a conservative) 20-25k each and then another 50k a week for the now departed Moyes. That would leave us 27.5 million a year wage bill without factoring in new signings wages and Graysons wages.
Its just my opinion and I'm always taking an optimistic view on all things SAFC but i think we can stand our ground and get good prices for our players or keep them if no decent offers come in.
What do you think @Grumpy Old Man.

no fecker knows and people just keep guessing, were skint no matter what the wage bill is.
Well we know lasts years wage bill as it was in the accounts. We also know everybody has a relegation wage reduction clause excluding Plowell. The rest is guess work I agree but I think it will be there or there abouts.

It was the year before, no one outside of the club knows last years finances.

I'd expect the 2016/17 wage bill to be down a bit from 2015/16, as a number of higher earners were shifted off the books, and, hopefully, the players brought in last year were on a bit less. It could conceivably be in the £65-70m range; I'd be surprised if it was lower than that. My own back of an envelope thoughts were that the club could just about break even with the loss of a few more higher earners this summer (Defoe and Borini would fit that category), but that there wouldn't be much in the way of transfer funds. The main risk is the external lender taking fright and exercising their deed of assignment over PL money - this would leave us needing to use incoming transfer fees to meet running costs, or to find replacement loan sources (which could include Drumaville).

Thanks for the reply.
Anyhow what you have said is in line with my thinking (if not slightly better news).
It looks like we can get a few more free transfers, bargains or high end loans without necessarily having to sell players like Khazri, Lens and Kone for buttons.( My hope is we can at least keep hold of Khazri) Its obvious that Bain will be trying to get players like McCormack for less in terms of loan fees and wage contribution expenditure.
As it stands we have a strong squad with the addition of two or three more players( with one or two leaving) we have a good chance to try and make the play off positions.
I think credit has to go to Bain. He has reportedly got Grabban for a third of his wages(10k) and I Don't Think Vaughan will be on much more than this. I would have though we are only paying token amount for Galloway and Browning wont impact too much on our wage bill. Its only McGeady that I think we will be close to paying 20k a week for.
