What is the best fish/seafood you can eat?

Worst I've had several yrs ago went to the Faroe islands for football.Stayed at a locals house and they have me a piece of 2 yr old dried cured whale meat.It was rancid ,they assured me it was a local delicacy. They vacuum packed me some to bring home for the Mrs gaffer who's head chef in a restaurant to taste as he reckened he has tasted food from all over the world. He spat it straight out into the bin as it smelt like piss and was uneatable.

Ms Z's favourite is baked herring. Would have been a bit of a peasant dish at one time but difficult getting decent herring nowadays. Mind, she's from Swedish stock.

I love most seafoods but my favourite are trout, burbot and dolphin fish.

Fantastic and very easy to cook

Haven’t had it since I was a kid but I could eat winkles until I popped. Couldn’t imagine getting sick of the taste or ever feeling full.

Very nice, did you get the opportunity to fish for big halibut in Norway?
We didn't target them but there were a few about. There was a group of about 10 Germans who had two freezer vans with trailers who absolutely slaughtered the fish. Every single fish they caught they kept only to dump the smaller ones (5lb or less) back into the fjord dead as they couldn't be bothered to fillet them, honestly it was sad seeing so much fish just dumped. They had 3 or 4 halibut in the 60lb range, one day I'll go back and target halibut ... if the Germans haven't fished out the fjords like they did 40 years ago further south.

The germans have got a lot to answer for as you say

They butcher the halibut in bodo/ salstraumen using spear fishing tactics during the summer

Not good on the Germans part. I saw a pic once of a guy holding up a halibut, it weighed about 90 Lb, he had caught it from the shore somewhere in Norway,it just looked an incredible catch.
