What is the best fish/seafood you can eat?

Had scallops and oysters yesterday, superb.

I had scollops in Spain at a seafood restaurant (Guttierez) by the port in Malaga and it wasn't a shrivvled pair of testicles like that! 😊 I'm sorry mate it does look like a pair of testicles!😅 It looks sooo dry. Scallops really needs some kind of sauce or dressing to bring it alive for me. Scallops I think don't have much taste or flavour. The meat is just a base for I think something with a bit of a punch to make it heavenly. I had it once from a fish and chip shop in Milthorpe and it was greassy and horrible.

My lass and I went to Malaga to the Museo Automovilistico de Malaga by bus and walked aong the promenade in search of something to eat. We happened upon Restaurante Gutierrez Porto. I looked and found shellfish among all the fish dishes. I fancied a Scallop which was advertised on the menu as being cooked in hot garlic butter. I was not disappointed. It was insanely delicious. My only regret is I didn't take a snap of it. My lass had Callimari. I had a bit of garlic butter left and dipped the Calimari in that and it too tasted amazing.

I had 4 they were gorgeous, and some oysters, a venison burger and some sea-urchins 🙂

Firstly I do not keep a database of every bit of fish I have ever eaten so I can rate each one and produce a League table so being able to say definitively that one is “the best” is subjective.

But

I caught a sea bass off the rocks near Marsden and I was so chuffed I packed up and went home and ate it with a garlic butter sauce, peas and chips.

I think it was the whole thing of catching it that made the experience memorable but it was very nice.

Sea bass for me.

I'm not a seafood person but I've had to leave to be to some extent for certain reasons.

I favour prawns/shrimp and still think most forms of fish are rank, excluding possibly salmon. Have a phobia of anything with a shell.

Bass. Nee such thing as a Sea Bass, just ask a Sea Gull.

Would this not have been a battered and deep fried potato?

All tastes the same !

The bass that swims in the sea is very different from the bass that swim in North American lakes.
Anglers here just call them Bass, as the chances of you catching an American freshwater bass in the sea here are minimal, so there would be no confusion.

You only see fish shops/restaurants call it sea bass as they could sell freshwater bass here, never seen it myself though.

Back to topic, theres nothing like freezing your bollocks off during a cold winters night/morning, catching your own cod and eating it the next day after letting it dry out in the fridge for 8 hours. Tastes absolutely fantastic, whether pan fried or battered and fried.

Me Da's Garlic King Prawns served with roast potatoes and warm french stick and lurpak to mop up the juices. Whenever I make this I think of him fondly. He was a canny useless cook but knocked this out the park and mine never seem to come close.

Recently had some Octopus in a tapas bar in Madrid that was pretty spectacular, just served with onions, gallons of olive oil and bread and a few dobles to wash it down,

But as mentioned, it's all about the time and place - have been equally enamored by a Fish Lot from Tommy's at Doxy as I have been by perfect a lobster roll in Maine.

Love seafood me like - apart from willicks - they can dee one!
