No coach in his right mind will take Welbeck from a setup like this now. But when Gyan and Bent are healthy, will any be drop for Welbeck?

Remember, SAF will never let Welbeck go after him impressing like this. So will SB continue playing him for winning sake or try to form his perfect team for next year by playing Gyan and Bent together?

Welbeck should play as and when he is needed,he has improved but he isnt our player and no chance of him signing. We need to keep our own players happy and Gyan was bought to partner Bent.
Welbeck is young and full of running and is a good addition to the squad on loan.

He hasnt done enough yet to convince SAF that he is worth having in his squad imo. If he keeps this form up for a prolonged period we wont get him like. Assuming we cant sign him, we should still stick with him. I was in favour of Mignolet staying ahead of Gordon whilst he was playing well and I am the same here, I always think that the man in possession of the shirt should have it until such time as his performances warrant someone else coming in, that way you keep the determination in the squad with everyone feeling that if they get into the team they will have a genuine chance of staying there. If we went to Wolves with Gyan and Welbeck up front, Benty couldnt complain- it would be up to him to get on the pitch and outperform one of them when he is on

So you think it is ok to bench your star player or a 13 M record breaker for some a player you will never get?

If the player we might not get is performing well and the team is getting good results then yes. Currently Welbeck deserves his game, he has played up front in two games and contributed a lot, even aside from his goals. That means either Bent or Gyan and, for me, Gyan currently deserves it as Bent didnt look too sharp on Monday. I would start Welbeck and Gyan, at some point Benty would come on. If in the next game one of the strikers has been average/ poor, then Benty can come on and take the place back for himself by putting in a good performance and making a difference

If you drop Welbeck despite him doing well, it will affect his confidence and possibly his motivation (might think "however well i do i'll only lose my place again")- he has been putting a shit load of effort in, chasing everything, and i wouldnt like to see him get dispirited

With 3 strikers you can have a degree of rotation whilst still giving all of them a good number of minutes on the pitch, letting the in form player keep the shirt is just good for motivation and preventing complacency

I wouldnt rotate the defenders all the time as i think a settled back 4 (5 with the keeper) is important, but we can afford to rotate the strikers depending on how they are performing. The fact that Welbeck probably wont sign for us means nothing as far as im concerned, I want us to do as well as we can this season whilst we have him and so i would keep his motivation and hunger levels high. Benty wont complain if he has to fight his way back into the side, I'm sure he will relish the challenge and appreciate that we arent completely relying on him as we were last season

Just hazarding a guess, if we are winning with Wellbeck in, he will continue to play;)
