What (if anything) do you hate about Football in the 2020s?

- The cost of football generally now is ridiculous
- The nature of TV and Sky dictating when games are played at the expense of the fans without a care for them.
- Twitter tribalism is nauseating and everything that goes with it - Sportsbible, Ladbible - 'How will I tell my kids that X player missed this chance', 'Only these god tier derbies really matter' 'You'll never guess what CR7 said about this player', 'Ratio'd' etc.. etc..
- Standard of refereeing
- FIFA games and FUT used as a font of knowledge for the real game and the bragging rights that go with it.
- League 1
- Football Journalism is the dogs - It's not actual reporting anymore - It's Luke Edwards hashtagging about freeing Donny Van de Beek and massaging the ego of the fans of teams they're supposed to be reporting on.
- Diving or feeling the slightest touch in the back and flinging themselves to the ground
- The handball rule and offside rule seemingly changing every 5 minutes because they can never seem to get it right
- Sportswashing

- The Mags

Just a few off the top of my miserable head

You were doing so well....... ;)

Cheating, and the pundits are as much to blame with their acceptance of it. You often hear them say 'oh he was entitled to go down there' and if he stays on his feet they say 'he was a bit naïve' as if there's something wrong with trying to stay up on your feet.

People calling football a business. It's not, it's a sport and the business is built round it. The game should always come first, but it's not the case.

Playing semi finals at Wembley. Nobody seems interested in the cup until it gets to Wembley, then you can't move for celebrity fans and freeloaders. I would make it so that everyone who goes to the 3rd round game gets a ticket for round 4 and so on, all the way to the final. You have to be in actual attendance, not just buy the ticket. That way the real supporters are rewarded come final day.

Some great suggestions so far. My list in no particular order:

- VAR
- Semi Finals at Wembley
- Deadline day SSN nonsense
- Tabloid paper bullshit transfer rumours
- Top 6 armchair fans and social media warriors
- The terms 'GOAT', 'The disrespect of...', 'x player must play cricket' generally just the social media cringeworthy crack
- Price of tickets
- The same chants getting recycled through every single club
- Managers never being given time to build a squad that might achieve something
- Ridiculous turnover of players for most clubs and particularly SAFC
- Singing louder on the concourse than in the stands
- Drums at football matches

The inane, puerile nonsense that fans spout constantly who believe referees are shit if they don't give their team every single decision. It's without doubt the most irritating aspect of the game.

All seater stadiums and away fans being put in the gods. Whilst there's plenty seats to move to now, hate itr when we are full and you cant just take your kid/a friend along as a one off and stand with your other mates as a group.
And people watching it through their phones

Friendly away days (loved the edgy away days)

Sky tv

Modern day fans

My biggest gripe is the cost

For me VAR and all that goes with it, but mainly, all the fancy talk re formations from coaches/managers who try to sound clever by totally complicating a simple game.

Maybe I'm a 🦕 but nobody will ever convince me that a full blooded match between two sides from the 70s 80s or 90s playing 4-4-2 with an instant linesman/referee decision is not better than where modern day football is at.
The only touch anyone from back then would get against todays to teams would be kicking off about 15 times

Already said but cheating/ diving/ going down when touched. Delete as appropriate

Money. Its given far too much power to those that have a lot of it.

Narrative. Every single game.

Players being wankers towards fans and vice versa

Obviously VAR.... But many players especially in Prem... Are disrespectful.... Win lose or draw it doesn't matter to them cos they earn so much whereas the true supporters it spoils the weekend... Also the diving for penalties etc especially the likes of Salah

Terracing was got rid of for a reason, it’s all modern now the higher up you go, Wembley for example wow, then you have the new white hart lane, West Ham’s new stadium and of course it maybe over 20 years old now but the SOL, a lot of happy memories in that stadium.

Terracing without the perimeter fencing.
Just loved it growing up and even now once in a while we get the chance to stand up.
The constant shit-housery. I mean, did you see that Lincoln substitute on the line on Tuesday night?

It drops out of play for a throw in, just in front of his stride as he's walking the line, and instead of just knocking it sideways to one of our lads to take the throw in, he kicks it off down the line.

Same at Wycombe, Vokes not giving us the ball back after it being put out for their injury.

All sportsmanship has just melted out of the game.

Just give me a copy of the football pink and the Sunday radio report.
As I type on another clubs forum on a Friday night 😂
I guess we all remain football romantics and reminiscing is wonderful.

Nostalgia of yesterday can be a weakness of the soul, beware of its temptations, the seats are the order of the day at a higher level, and the new fashion of safe standing. Now we have temples to football great massive things Wembley for example seating or standing with proper facilities, are the correct way, the days of standing in a ground with just a trench to piss in, will going forward be a thing of the history books.

I can’t argue with you mate.
Just love to go back in time to a packed terraced Town End under the lights and Swindon kicking into our end second half.
Just once to remember how good it was. I can only dream.
