What (if anything) do you hate about Football in the 2020s?

The constant shit-housery. I mean, did you see that Lincoln substitute on the line on Tuesday night?

It drops out of play for a throw in, just in front of his stride as he's walking the line, and instead of just knocking it sideways to one of our lads to take the throw in, he kicks it off down the line.

Same at Wycombe, Vokes not giving us the ball back after it being put out for their injury.

All sportsmanship has just melted out of the game.

Social media:

Players apologising for missing penalties

Social media teams posting generic 'fans were different class, we go again' drivel after every game on behalf of players, accompanied by a picture of said player to boost engagement

Club accounts posting 'banter' and things like 'THIS team' etc

VAR
Bi polar fans
Diving and play acting
Time Wasting
Standard of refereeing
FA Cup being undervalued by the majority of clubs
teams hard done by coz they have to play twice a week
changing kits (3 of the them normally) every season
standard of food and drink on offer in grounds (and price of if for that matter)
sky sports news - especially all this transfer window bollocks with those "in the know" nicking rumours from forums
Should have had this in mine. Winner should get a Champions League place and the prize money needs to be far greater. Also, as mentioned by @Visiting owl, Wembley should be for the final. Semi's back to the old format of neutral venues like Old Trafford, Villa Park etc. There are plenty of stadia large enough as long as it is a 50/50 split of tickets like the old days.

For me VAR and all that goes with it, but mainly, all the fancy talk re formations from coaches/managers who try to sound clever by totally complicating a simple game.

Maybe I'm a 🦕 but nobody will ever convince me that a full blooded match between two sides from the 70s 80s or 90s playing 4-4-2 with an instant linesman/referee decision is not better than where modern day football is at.
The thing I hate most is not being able to actually go and see our games live any more (I know that’s not the fault of football).
From what I see on TV, cheating is by far the worst thing. Arm across the chest, down holding the face. Defenders have always pushed and shoved but the regular arms wrapped around attackers and refs usually doing nothing about it does my head in.
TV highlights where you see more replays and “punditry” than actual football is also a major turn off.
There’s a lot more but others on the thread have done a good job with their lists.

TV rights deals determine what games are shown and when and who can watch them. It's totally fucked that I can't watch a club stream of a league Cup match because sky own the rights but aren't broadcasting the game.

Obscene money
Countries actually owning our football clubs (Qatar and Saudi)
The 'powers that be;' utterly corrupt and ineffective-FIFA, the FA ,Pem etc
Cheating
Time wasting
Diving
Hardly any players in the prem from UK ( or managers)
Stupid haircuts and horrible tatts
SKY,for many reasons, but mainly for revelling in the awful amount of money that is spent
Idiot co commentators who have their job just because they are ex pros.,usually thick as mince and they do not know the laws of the game
Etc
Etc
Etc

That you're shit aaaahhh chant
The Premier League in general
Agents and disregarding a players best interest for their insane commission on transfer fees

Don’t mind the VAR really. At least it’s on route to be a fairer game now.

I would do everything I could so stop the time wasting. It’s an entertainment and a sport.
Other sports have stop clock and shot timers. All so they can reduce time wastage.

Imagine paying for a film and finding out you only get to watch 60 minutes of the 90 minute film. The rest of the time you have to watch the cameraman and the on screen lot get back in positions or drink water
I get the win at all costs thing but no wonder a lot of people think football is boring

More than I like about it, in fact if it wasn’t for Sunderland I’d not watch a game. I hate how all the money is hoarded by a select few so that the rest of us are there to make up the numbers. I hate how clubs like Chelsea stockpile players and abuse the loan system. I hate FIFA and how they’re trying to force through a World Cup every two years. I think we play far too much football, there aren’t enough days in the calendar but the powers that be are trying to cram as much in as is possible.

Barcelona under pep, or the current Man City side 🤔
..banter, not allowed to have a laugh at the match anymore.
Racism, sexism, or homophobia ?

The biggest problem for me with the FA cup is, they’ll show a game like Man Utd v Southampton, when Colchester v Watford is a bigger match for a lot more people.
Only Man Utd and Southampton fans want that game on tv. The rest of the country don’t

It doesn’t always happen, but when it does it bothers me a lot. Like they pander to the overseas fans first

Pretty much everything posted so far, and I'll add the ability of the bigger clubs to whisk away the talent that has progressed through a teams academy when they turn 17 for peanuts.

This has happened to us (West Brom) so many times recently, the supposed very good Villa academy players has at least 5 or 6 players they stole from us. Man City, Chelsea & Barcalona have all knicked our kids!.. Now I don't blame these kids for moving to where the money is, but clubs should pay proper compensation, not the current paltry 250K.

All seated stadiums.
Give me the old fashioned terracing. It’s football not the cinema.
Terracing was got rid of for a reason, it’s all modern now the higher up you go, Wembley for example wow, then you have the new white hart lane, West Ham’s new stadium and of course it maybe over 20 years old now but the SOL, a lot of happy memories in that stadium.
