What (if anything) do you hate about Football in the 2020s?

For me VAR and all that goes with it, but mainly, all the fancy talk re formations from coaches/managers who try to sound clever by totally complicating a simple game.

Maybe I'm a 🦕 but nobody will ever convince me that a full blooded match between two sides from the 70s 80s or 90s playing 4-4-2 with an instant linesman/referee decision is not better than where modern day football is at.
Diving shirt pulling daft kick off times for tv VAR

- The cost of football generally now is ridiculous
- The nature of TV and Sky dictating when games are played at the expense of the fans without a care for them.
- Twitter tribalism is nauseating and everything that goes with it - Sportsbible, Ladbible - 'How will I tell my kids that X player missed this chance', 'Only these god tier derbies really matter' 'You'll never guess what CR7 said about this player', 'Ratio'd' etc.. etc..
- Standard of refereeing
- FIFA games and FUT used as a font of knowledge for the real game and the bragging rights that go with it.
- League 1
- Football Journalism is the dogs - It's not actual reporting anymore - It's Luke Edwards hashtagging about freeing Donny Van de Beek and massaging the ego of the fans of teams they're supposed to be reporting on.
- Diving or feeling the slightest touch in the back and flinging themselves to the ground
- The handball rule and offside rule seemingly changing every 5 minutes because they can never seem to get it right
- Sportswashing

- The Mags

Just a few off the top of my miserable head

Inconsistency in interpreting the rules by officials, and what is the point of linespeople ? (is that the correct term now,?) One has to be careful not to upset the function or persuasion of any human, animal, vegetable or mineral these days.

When the ref goes to look at the VAR monitor and they assume whatever happened was getting overturned

Pundits who disagree with VAR other than offside decisions - offside should be changed to any part of the body that you can control the ball with is in an onside position.

Waiting until the ball is touched before offside is blown

Gambling adverts

Shirt sponsors - instead of going on the front of a shirt why can’t all teams offer sponsor free options? And why can’t teams just keep a unique shirt design for a few years like the NFL?

People who boo taking a knee. Seems that this only happens in Sunderland now with the fake stony crew

The concourses at the SOL need to be upgraded. As does our no mans land pitch

The video boards at the SOL no longer showing the game

Lynden Gooch giving the ball away

The fact that the home and away dugouts and changing rooms at the SOL are the wrong way round

Players of shit little clubs in our division celebrating in front of our fans when they score. I am assuming because it is the highlight of their careers. We should start doing this to opposition teams.

Accumulators becoming impossible. Once upon a time five home wins was an easy bet.

I know it's going back a little further, but playing F.A cup semi finals at Wembley.

Teams putting stiffs out in cup competitions.

Not being able to just turn up at a match without a ticket.

Fans getting brainwashed by their respective teams manager that cup competitions are not as important as the league.

Fans who every single year say "The league is more important"

Diving.

Var, sky and the medias obsession with the top six

VAR
Bi polar fans
Diving and play acting
Time Wasting
Standard of refereeing
FA Cup being undervalued by the majority of clubs
teams hard done by coz they have to play twice a week
changing kits (3 of the them normally) every season
standard of food and drink on offer in grounds (and price of if for that matter)
sky sports news - especially all this transfer window bollocks with those "in the know" nicking rumours from forums
