What happened

Where did I say that? I'm saying they are a bunch of f***ing cry baby prima donnas

If it makes THAT much difference taking a penalty in front of some fans trying to put you off.....how come 3 of their players scored?
Calling them crybabies certainly suggests unprofessionalism to me. It was a nonsense decision not to toss a coin for choice of ends and most people can see that. It was clearly an issue for some of the Doncaster players.

Isn’t the ref at fault though?

It’s his decision at the end of the day.

Yeah, the police can advise him but he’s free to tell them that what happens on the pitch is none of their beeswax unless it’s a criminal offence or unless they can demonstrate the risk is based on something substantial.

He should have the balls in association with the other officials to resist the interference.

Agreed, that it can give one side a psychological advantage.

If the police are claiming a safety issue it would take a very brave man to ignore them. Imagine if there was an injury or major incident as a result

True. Which is why he has a team of officials around him for support and why I said “unless they can show it’s based on something substantial.”

There should be rules in place which make it clear to refs that mere pressure from the police that potentially there could be some sort of unsubstantiated risk should not be enough to overturn normal procedure. Otherwise this will catch on.

you are deluded if you think that it makes a difference to a professional

The Police were looking at it from a safety perspective
We are talking about it from a football perspective
Totally different arguments

Absolute rubbish. Fans behind the goal jumping up and down trying to distract the player has no effect ? Then why do keepers do it ?

No, it affects a lot of players, not all, but a lot.
Massive advantage gained by corrupt police.

FA informed the Chief Of Police, any penalty shoot out must be at the Charlton end.

Surely informing the referee would have made more sense....calling BS on that.
In fact if that comes out as the official reason afterwards then the FA are brazenly covering them imo.

Appreciate you may not rate the plod but on issues of safety and crowd control they will have more say than the ref

Well they have the power to call off the game and vacate the stadium for reasons they would have to evidence and be accountable for. But not to dictate what happens on the field of play. Advise but not dictate.

Ref should have been strong enough to say if the ground is safe enough for football then we'll leave the pens to chance. They couldnt have called the game off for safety reasons after playing 120 mins.

The police should keep their fuckin noses out that’s what should happen.
Were Villa made to take the penalties in front of the West Brom fans? Of course not and rightly so, they’re Aston Villa though, this was only little Doncaster.

The ref is only in charge of the game. The Police can stop the game of need be.
