What’s the criteria for a thread to become Parsnippable?

Seriously- what is it? Is it at the whim of any mod who doesn’t want it on the main board? Or is there a vetting process that it has to go through before it gets moved?

Parsnip isn't available to non registered users and is less heavily moderated and some posts may offend.

If a thread is just nonsense, a posting game, purely for pictures of people in a state of undress, or descends into just a conversation about nothing in particular then it gets parsnipped.

That's not too far from the truth. Basically if it is rubbish, unsuitable for younger viewers or objectionable to our advertisers or else was written by @CatRyan (which would normally mean all of the above ;) ).

You have to be logged on to see it, so that controls who can access it and hides it from the search engines and allows us to run a different set of adverts in there.

If we didn't have the Parsnip it is all stuff which would otherwise be deleted.
