Saw a band there a few months back it was a good night and very busy. Surprised it's closing, wasn't it fairly recently taken over? They were doing alright with it and was decent for gigs. Used to be a class pub back in the day.
Aye, they seemed to get a canny few in for gigs. I don't think they've been running it that long, yeah The Stag just has nowt about it for me!Saw a band there a few months back it was a good night and very busy. Surprised it's closing, wasn't it fairly recently taken over?
Surprised The Stags keeps going.
Definitely. One of the best back in the day. They were doing alright with it and was decent for gigs. Used to be a class pub back in the day.
Or how feckless the men were.Still chuckle when you hear about the women lining up outside the shipyard gates and mine gates on a Friday to get the men's pay before they pissed it up against a wall.
Not funny at all of course, tough times and you have to admire how practical the ladies were. I'm sure they'd have liked to be out on the razzle but with a home to look after and children....
Lots of bars here in Houston (and beyond) have shuffleboard tables:
It's actually a canny pub game, played it a few times in Sweden and one in Manchester, can get competitiveLooks like a load of hipster nonsense.
The Stags was canny back in the day. I was talking to the daughter of the couple who had it for years, on Friday.Aye, they seemed to get a canny few in for gigs. I don't think they've been running it that long, yeah The Stag just has nowt about it for me!
At least you know.Looks like a load of hipster nonsense.
Or how feckless the men were.

For now, if it becomes popular in other parts of the UK, sooner or later it will make its debut.Looks fun that tbf, shame no-where really has it up here according the their website.
Yeah, the last place you go to play pool is a pub, when the region has pool halls open.Lots of pubs used to have pool tables but they took them out when they thought that they could make more money per square foot from people drinking. Seems like the economics have changed
Activities are good but each have their place.Agreed, i think we are on the verge of a massive cultural shift to be honest, i think the days of all night on the piss are over, and its coffee houses wine bars/cocktail bars, and Activitys are coming at a rate of nots, with a lot more things to do that just sit and get pissed in a pub, bowling, crazy golf, wall climbing which looks ace, and other such things, and of course there is always the pictures, and nandos and such if you want an evening out.
how about your age group now, have some given up the booze ?

I love playing football, walking, running and loads of other activities and the reward is often beer.
My local WMC gets loads of youngsters in apparently and they all love the pool tables, it's a big place like so the tables don't really eat into the space.Lots of pubs used to have pool tables but they took them out when they thought that they could make more money per square foot from people drinking. None of my mates have gone teetotal but most have cut down massively. Monthly nights out instead of atleast once a week back then. Spoons was a regular starting point on a night out then. 3 or 4 cheap pints before moving on as it was all about getting as much beer into us for as cheap as possible back then.Agreed, i think we are on the verge of a massive cultural shift to be honest, i think the days of all night on the piss are over, and its coffee houses wine bars/cocktail bars, and Activitys are coming at a rate of nots, with a lot more things to do that just sit and get pissed in a pub, bowling, crazy golf, wall climbing which looks ace, and other such things, and of course there is always the pictures, and nandos and such if you want an evening out.

20 years ago when I was 18. Pints of Budweiser for £1.99 and bottles of reef for 99 pence. I'm sure a burger and a pint of crap lager was under 4 quid as wellHow far back was this?
Aye, standard stuff. These days they'll get tanked up at a chums home and then go out really late and spend very little coin.20 years ago when I was 18. Pints of Budweiser for £1.99 and bottles of reef for 99 pence. I'm sure a burger and a pint of crap lager was under 4 quid as well
