Had a breakfast in spoons in Darlo this morning , with coffe not beer mind . 10.00am too earlier for my palette. Maybe it’s cos am old but , even though I know the ingredients are cheap , at £5.25 inc coffee it went down great. Love Spoons me. At 10.00am it was busy with blokes like myself ( retired not pissheads ) happily having a pint cos it’s affordable.

No. I wouldn’t do it instead of going to the pub if I did.You don’t like bowling or mini golf?

Many. Swimming, sauna, running, golf, I walk most places I need to go, I read a lot (best done sober). Learned to play acoustic over last decade. Definitely better done sober. I do attend the occasional gig without booze. If there is a bbq at someone’s place I would usually drive and can still have a great time. My missus doesn’t drink much so when we do anything it’s usually without the aid of booze. However, I do love a night out and I do like social evenings with my chums and going to the footy. All these events will include the use of alcohol. I would never have an evening out with friends that didn’t include booze.Do you enjoy any activities at all that don’t involve getting drunk?
Just different generations really. Not saying we never go out but we couldn't do it weekly like older generations used to do. It's why there's loads of random stuff coming out now basically for us, the likes of axe throwing, boutique bowling alleys, mini golf, arcades, simulation shooting, bongo bingo, modern golf ranges, escape rooms etc. All much more fun imo and not much more when pints are close to £5 each unless you drink crap.
No doubt loads would say why the fuck would you want to throw an axe on a night out on here though.
A lifeline for the poor and vulnerable given the current crises. Makes it even more shocking (but perhaps not surprising) to see some celebrate any chance of their demiseWhere else would you get a coffee (unlimited) for £1.25?? Good value. Don't care about some owners politics at that price, probably half the countries shops wouldn't be frequented if that was all we gave a shit about!

Having all of those options available might work in a big city but they aren't happening in small market towns and villages.
Yes because the poor and vulnerable will benefit from being tempted to going into pubs.A lifeline for the poor and vulnerable given the current crises. Makes it even more shocking (but perhaps not surprising) to see some celebrate any chance of their demise
Yes getting hooked on alcohol, not going to help them.Yes because the poor and vulnerable will benefit from being tempted to going into pubs.

He said poor and vulnerable, not young.Better young people learn how to behave in pubs (as we did) than cheap supermarket crap at home.
Same argument applies. They are better off drinking socially in the community than on cheap cider and vodka at home.He said poor and vulnerable, not young.
It’s all about cost of living now, drinking at home cheaper, less chance of dick heads I can understand the draw, easy to get a few mates round pop a blue ray in or get a BBQ going in summer. Used to be a professional sport in my day, no longer, and even when it was never in his placesBetter young people learn how to behave in pubs (as we did) than cheap supermarket crap at home.
No it doesn’t.Same argument applies. They are better off drinking socially in the community than on cheap cider and vodka at home.
No it doesn’t.
Poor and vulnerable does not mean young.
How can poor and vulnerable people be better off drinking?
was #neverspoons app viewed in the process, if not, fair dues, if so, its working a treat.I visited two independent excellent pubs in Westhoughton last Thursday evening. I chuckled as I walked past 'Spoons thinking about how Tim Martin's stupid actions have cost him millions.
It made the pints I enjoyed taste all the better.
Cheers!
When I was at Uni (2003-2006), you're talking 99p pints in some places.
Now, they get pissed before they even head to the pubs/clubs.
The poor and vulnerable shouldn’t be allowed a few beers? No it doesn’t.

It was more the fact you’d rather WhatsApp your mates than see them in person.Just different generations really.
