Wetherspoons selling off real ales at 99p/pint ahead of lockdown

I was forced into the Spoons at St Pancras on Saturday. Apart from the place being full of Mags, there real ale selection was fantastic. I got a cracking pint of Southwark Brewing Company’s Routemaster Red. I was able to sup it outside away from the inane babble of the subbies and then get the train to Cambridge.

I'm sitting in a Wetherspoon (in Darlo) right now. Great selection of real ales, to be fair to them.

In better news, there's two new independent pubs opened/opening in Shildon this year, long live the locals.

Yes, the Spoons in St Pancras has become my regular fist/last pint in London despite there being a number of decent pubs in in the area. Always seems to be busy from 9am until closing time.

The one at Liverpool St is good too. In fact, most Staton Spoons are pretty good as they have a lot of passing trade and aren't full of all day drinkers supping John Smiths. The exception to this rule is Victoria were one in the station is a dive and the one opposite isn't much better.

Its horrible though - not sure what they do to give it that rank aftertaste?
Moving to Weston's fizzy cider (Stowford Press) is a huge improvement.

It's a strange move imo. They used to sell it but it seems to have been pulled at some point, not sure when as I used to get it. Not sure what's changed for people to suddenly like it.

Least they didn't go for Carling Cider though as that stuff really is crap. The only other non Heineken brand they could sell.

Never knew there was a Wetherspoons in St Pancras and I've used it tons of times. Every day is a school day.

Right at the back near the Pancras Road exit and the SouthEastern platforms. If you use Thameslink then you wouldn't walk past it.

It’s the most expensive Wetherspoons I’ve ever been in I believe!

Airport ones are more expensive but all those in Zone 1 have a price premium plus I'm sure the rents in St Pancras aren't cheap. However, I would have thought that Leicester Sq would be the most expensive in London.

The Hamilton Hall was a mainstay of ours years ago. Cracking place. The one in St Pancras was decent last time we were in.

The peter Cushing in Whitstable is canny. Will be frequenting the one in surbiton on Friday morning for me brekkie before the racing at Sandown. Love a spoons me. They serve a purpose
Remember you being astounded by the price of Doom Bar in the Sunderland spoons
