Good value is fine. But steak that costs a fiver isn't "class"
This is just semantics now.

Using class colloquially is on par with decent and canny for me.
Slightly below mint of course.
Would struggle to get a decent one to cook yourself for a fiverGood value is fine. But steak that costs a fiver isn't "class"
Where does 'hellish' come into it?
I once got told off at school for saying the world hellish. Fuck knows why.
They're nice enough for the price and are neither frozen or microwaved. If you're ordering a steak in a wetherspoons then you have no idea about food or life
Some do, some don't.
I've often wondered why people complain about this like, remember some bloke being really upset at the Spoons in Bishop cos he asked for some beer mats and they didn't have any.
Aspirational middle class person alert!!!!!Alternatively
Pubs without soul where the unemployed drink the day away and where you can get filthy microwaved food
You aren't wrong, it's an opinion.
There are of course some that are decent.
But I don't like the way they destroy the business of decent local pubs by undercutting. And the food is generally very very poor, you get a lot but it's shit quality.

I don't disagree with this mind you, there's now one in Keswick in the lakes, for example that ALL the locals drink in because cider is 1.70 a pint or summat daft.
But I bet you use Uber and that does the same to taxi drivers. You could make the argument that they keep prices down for people that need it.
Also depending on what you choose the quality of the food isn't that bad, from recent experience.
I know that's just my opinion but for what it's worth I eat in restaurants/hotels on average over 100 times a year through travel with work.
Whole town was quiet last month when I visited other than wetherspoons so off peak the regular pubs may struggleSome nice pubs in Keswick. Are they suffering alot due to the Wetherspoons? I don't think I have been over since it opened.
No good that like.Whole town was quiet last month when I visited other than wetherspoons so off peak the regular pubs may struggle
Anyone know if the Union Rooms is still open or has it closed down for its refurb?
