West Brom Forum

I think most fans are pointing out how rubbish the officials once again were and aren't barely giving it a murmur. Massive mistakes throughout the game that changed the outcome of the game. That Ballard challenge would never have happened if we were given the free kick just a few seconds beforehand that we should've had. He should've sent Ballard off for it because he hasn't given the foul, but he also should've sent two of the Baggies players off during the game as well. We should've had a goal much earlier in the game. It seems you're allowed to foul Clarke every few minutes and you can foul him however you like and it's ok. Those and many many other incidents. I know how hard refereeing is, I've done a few games myself but that yesterday was pathetic
Ref was friggin horrendous , the fact we won shouldnt give him a free pass. His shitness just about evened out to the right result but oh dear what a clown, compounded by a stooge of a lino .
Although obviously football fans see everything against them we should be agreeing with the Baggies that he was just not fit for the job.

Yeah he didn't. Shit ref

Swear the first challenge was from Molumby who got a yellow later for turning jack Clarke's shirt into a parachute he had it pulled that much.

Because the ref was absolutely shit.

I mean you watched Cantwell not get a booking for one of the worst dives probably ever been seen on a football pitch.
Me too.

Ref gives the clear foul seconds earlier and the Ballard challenge doesn’t happen.

Officials missed a clear goal, a clear elbow and failed numerous times to book their players for awful challenges…ref got one thing right which was the advantage when neill scored other than that he was awful

He played advantage as though his life depended on it for most of the game, even where there was little if any. The only thing to really like about him. In truth he got the goal decision wrong and two red card decisions wrong. Probably the three biggest decisions in the game as well as plenty of other fouls not given for both sides that could have changed the game. At least two corner decisions wrong too- palmers save from Clarke was brilliant!

I can’t say anything against the Baggies supporters but what I will say is their team are a bunch of ditty bastards. They tried it on against us last season down at their place as well if you remember. We fielded the youngest side of the season against them & they tried every trick in the book. Remember Joffy retaliating after being pushed in their box? The media only showed his retaliation & not the blatant foul before it, should have been a pen.

Ballard is class but for me that was a cowardly challenge on Maja and should have been red. The fact that he then went on to score the opening goal and be most peoples man of the match will have wound the WBA fans up, we would have been exactly the same. Baggies fans are fine, I remember them all staying and applauding us when crowned league champions under Peter Reid. They have always been fine whenever I have went to the Hawthorns as well.
It was a bad tackle, but the elbow to Pritchards face was also , and it was obvious. What happened to the rules protecting the head? Most seem to admire the WB fans from what I am reading but overall they desewrved nothing from the game and fouled from start to finish. Not the fans fault I suppose.

I noticed that, was it Molumby who was booked later on?

I thought that if an advantage is played, that the ref can/should go back to book the player who dragged back the opposition man who was bursting through.

You can and should go back to a player and book them. As I mentioned, Clarke was blatantly fouled twice in the build up to playing Roberts into the box when he nearly got a penalty. First tried to trip him and made no attempt for the ball, the second just barged into him. Give the ref his due he played in when he could easily have blew for a few kick for either but he could and should have gone back to them and booked them when the ball went out of play

The elbow on Pritchard looks worse every time I see it. From the ref's perspective if he's looking at the back of both players his views obscured. All he sees is their keeper move into Pritchard and the Pritchard going down. He can't see the point of contact or the throw of the arm. Of course, if he sees it on the face on angle he's going to give a red.

If it was a dive why wasn't he booked for simulation
Tbf. There was contact. Hand on shoulder and feet (ok ;trailing leg) but I’ve seen them given dozens of times. It wasn’t a pen but with these idiots officiating. What’s going on in there heads…..you never know.

the ref also should've booked their bloke who looked as though he was dead till the ball came near then made a miraculous recovery for ungentlemanly/unsporting conduct or whatever it is nowadays.
Yes, that was staggering to be honest.

I read their forum and thought it was pretty balanced. Compare it to our match threads and it's a different world, much more civilised, but I prefer our emotional, passionate rants. They seemed a bit indifferent.
