Wellbeck

Gordon, and go all out attack ;)

seriously, give all three a run up front? and make sure that Cattermole, Henderson and a.n. other next to them (Riveros? Zenden) know to anchor in midfield a bit and give support to their full-backs?

Just a suggestion, but I agree it's a tough decision

Strange as it seems I reckon Bruce would not be to dissapointed if one of the three was injured thus leaving no headache.

But if it came to it, Bent and Gyan start for me upfront. Welbeck on the wing

You just can't play three up. I mean, I absolutely love it if we did, but you really can't.

Whisper it, but I'd drop Bent on tonights showing. Now, the thought of dropping a 20 goal striker is quite frankly insane, but after Wellbeck/Gyan's last two starts, they are the ones I'd play.

Madness, I need a lie down.

One of the contenders for player of the season so far unquestionably. The youngster Zenden did well tonight though

The talk at the time we signed him was that we trying to sign him permanently at the beginning of the season but Bruce thought the amount he was valued at was too high, was at least 8mil iirc, so loaned him instead.

Could well become permanent yet.

I heard similar talk (on here) when Evans was sent out on loan for a second time. There was nothing to it.

Like shite is he, since he came on at half time away to Spurs and played up front he has been a revelation and quite probably been our best player in each game but before that he was average at best.

I know, I suppose you're right. But still, it'd be nice.

I have no idea what I'd do like. The Bent idea crossed my mind, but it feels almost disrespectful to him, to be honest.

I reckon Bruce will go with Wellbeck wide-left (or right) and Gyan/Bent up front. Hopefully Wellbeck's renewed confidence will mean he is more effective from the wing than he was previously.

You're right of course, if anyone has earned the right to be picked whenever fit, it's Benty. I get the feeling that Wellbeck will be shunted out onto the wing, which will be shame after his performances up front.

I have to admit I was wrong about him, I was a serious doubter after seeing him for United's cup side and for Preston.

We actually put a big bid in for Evans which was turned down but we were reportedly offered Welbeck at a price of around 8mil and Bruce decided the valuation was too much for someone with so little football under his belt. Fergie was prepared to part with him though.

I meant Welbeck in Midfield on the wing if you no what I mean;)

And Wellbeck looked sketchy at best playing out wide, but has had two MOM performances playing up top. It's a quandry indeed.

It's not like. I'd go so far as to say that Brucey will sell Bent and Henderson and run with Gyan and Meyler. Total guesswork but there you go.

Meyler can't run yet man. Jeez, enough of the kneejerking........

The point I'm badly making is that we've got three centre forwards playing well, so what to do, what to do?

No knee jerking here, quite the opposite. I'm never been one to get involved in the Champ Man "tactics" type bollocks we see on here, as ever I'm thinking long term.

FWIW I have my doubts that we bought Gyan to compliment Bent, my guess is that in the longer term he's viewed as a replacement. While I'm here, my take on his hyping up of young Jordan is that if we're offered a stupid price he'll sell, slot Meyler in and use the money to buy quality out wide and at full back.

I know man, it was sarcasm on sarcasm with a touch of irony an that. I can't see your point with Gyan though, he's a great foil for Bent long term and with Bent's perceived 'failure' at Spurs, we have more chance of holding on to him than if Gyan if he is a big hit this year.

Jordan isn't as good as they hype, but he does have the tools. I suppose it depends on where we want to be in one or two seasons time. If we think we can challenge top six next year, Jordan stays. If not, he goes and we build on the money. Meyler has about half dozen decent performances behind him, there's nothing in him yet to hang our hat on.

He looked the business from day one for me. He stood out first time I saw the lad v the mighty Kendal in pre season and I thought this boy is some prospect. A few reserve games in the NWest he looked the business, no surprise to me he made the first team.

You may well be right though, the vast majority fail so I'm not about to go overboard. All I'm saying is that this would be my own guess as to what will happen.

Ran his socks off the whole of the match. Chased down just about every ball, even if it was a lost cause. Got clattered a few times, but got straight back up!! Not a fantastic performance from him, but still, showing signs why SAF rates him so highly. Just hope the lad gets a goal soon, massive boost in his confidence

Thanks but I was there you patronizing prick.

Your guess is as good as mine, and if Meyler makes a footballer we'll all be happy. I picked him out when he played against City reserves a couple of years ago but he's got a serious injury to get over and plenty more to do before he's a top level midfielder. Well see.

Thing is, he's got as many top level performances behind him as Wellbeck has, and look how over the top I'm (we're) going about him. ;)

To think that so many nobheads on here were bleating because we sold Waghorn and took Welbeck on loan.
