Did nothing when he had the ball, shouldn't be on the pitch if Bent is fit. We'll look very dangerous with Bent and Gyan up top

Not convinced by him tbh. At times it seemed like he had left Gyan alone. Has had some good games for us though. TIme will tell.

I think he is at his best as an impact sub. Now that should where he starts games, from the bench as Bent and Gyan have to start if they are fit.

Ran his socks off the whole of the match. Chased down just about every ball, even if it was a lost cause. Got clattered a few times, but got straight back up!! Not a fantastic performance from him, but still, showing signs why SAF rates him so highly. Just hope the lad gets a goal soon, massive boost in his confidence

Spot on. Ran around like a blue arsed fly to very little effect

As above the comparision to Frazier is a good one, he will be better through the middle, hope he`s still here in two years time cos he`s gonna be some player

Probably right. But today he was unfocused. Personally I hope he prospers and I believe he has the skill.

Bullshit. He was tremendous today. He closed their defenders down from the first until last minute and won the ball several times. When a forward is doing this the midfield must squeeze up in midfield to put pressure on the player receiving the hurried pass. This didn't happen enough. Welbeck had Stoke rattled in the second half and was responsible for a couple of sublime pieces of skill which resulted in a few bookings and the sending off. He still has a bit to learn like his decision making in the final third (last week being a prime example) but for me the positives outweigh any negatives.

Spot on mate!

Fantastic game by Wellbeck today! :-DWould have been man of the match if not for the PURE CLASS of Gyan!:-D

Watched it last night on footy first and again well impressed. His off the ball play is canny as well, always pulling players with him when he goes. Plus the look on his face when we scored and when we won was priceless!
Certainly looks like he loves playing for us at the minute and most def worth a punt if SAF would sell him

Posted this on another thread yesterday but a guy sat behind me yesterday was telling everyone at half time how shite Welbeck was and that he hadn't offered any support to Bardsley or put in a decent cross from the left all game. He soon shut up when he was told Welbeck was playing up front and not on the wing. I honestly don't understand why some people even bother to watch the game, surely it was obvious.

In Bent's absence I thought the enforced combination of Gyan and Welbeck worked as well as anyone could have hoped.

The odd goal would be nice, but the lad definitely has something about him. His work rate is excellent and he looks as fit as a lop.

The last action of the game yesterday was a Welbeck sliding tackle on the halfway line.

He'll definitely come good if he hasn't already. We're crying out for someone prepared to take his man on and provide some entertainment value and there's people knocking him.

Seconded

He's okay, but personally I'm not massively impressed by him so far. He's busy, and very quick and runs around a lot. But for someone who is supposed to be a striker, he rarely seems to create anything, he never scores and I can't remember too many goalscoring positions he has been in. I know he has spent a lot of his time on the wing, but you'd expect him to be getting in amongst it here and there.

Touch of the Chopras so far for me, albeit to a slightly higher standard - runs around lots, but not a great deal of end product.

see fraizer campbell....brought in as back up, put out on the wing, got on with it without any fuss, had solid if unspectacular performances then got his goal and suddenly looked like he was worthy of starting every game.

I think welbeck will be the same, just needs his goal and watch him go.

Quite obviously, he has seen this post and it has inspired him. Therefore, I claim my credit for our recent good performances.
