Thought they were canny, better than 90% of the league anyway. Could hear them throughout.

Everyone on here hates the 'ultras' but it is essentially a group of young lads bouncing about enjoying the game and having a laugh. Fair play to them, they're doing no harm.

it looks and sounds shit though. Proper manufactured plastic shite. I'd be embarrassed if we had a section like that

They were outstanding against us last year but that was 1st season back in the big time, one of their 1st home games, comfortably winning, and a full Saturday on the piss before it as opposed to being sober-ish in a Monday night in the 2nd season.

In my opinion its sad as fuck and they look like reet bellends. But they arent harming anyone so let them get on with it. And fair play to them as they do seem to sing all game. The drum can fuck off mind.

They only started jumping up and down to put a show on for the cameras when a corner or throw in was down in that corner. Rest of the time they banged a drum and held a sign up about playing footy games in England, not abroad.

What a bunch of divvy's

What do you think of them, btw? I'm right in thinking you're the guy who comes up with original songs and praises the Man United fans on a regular basis?

To me, that is everything these Palace fans aren't. As others have said, there's no spontaneity, no passion or anything like that. It's just a performance. It's horrible.

I look at it this way:

Man utd are the ideal model. Sing all game, obsessed with being original in their songs and have kept a bit on an old school ebglish feel to their support. They get slated on here. Then you have Palace, who unlike Man utd, dont have a singing culture, so they have opted for a different way to generate an atmosphere. They get slated on here. So basically, our fans slate any other set regardless and simply cant give any credit (we have people on here saying the palace fans have mics under their seats to make them seem loud ffs ). Haway man, we hammer the mags for singing on the 'if Sammi scores. we're on the pitch' and then sing it for Altidore. We hammered the mags for singing he scores when he wants for Cisse (as it is one of the most boring and unoriginal songs ever) and then sing it for Fletcher (even though he has a much better one). It just smacks of hypcoracy.

Im not sure why people think Palace are choreographed anyway? Im not aware they have a hymn sheet which tells people what to sing and when? Or is more the bouncing and flag waving? Man uTd have a pub designated for fans to go to learn new songs. Is that a bit plastic? Where do you draw the line?

Anyway, isnt our club creating a 'singing end' not forcing things a bit? We used to have a good number of fans who would sing all game, and with many original songs to boot but that has all died off.

People moaning and whining about flags obviously weren't at the milk cup final in '85.

1min 39 onwards:

Difference is mate, they are our flags ;)

Heard them all game and sky wanked over them, again last night. Why would sky lie about the atmosphere if it was shite? They were quite happy to point out the mags game against Liverpool was embarrassigly quiet.

Dortmund need to up their game

as opposed to ours, where all youd see just before kick off is a load of empty seats and pissed knackeres wandering about trying to find where their ticket is for

I love how when you see games from the likes of Dortmund and Galatasaray, they are all bouncing along and singing and it looks class.. Even Roma against City when they scored looked amazing, then you come to England and ours is apparently the 100 Palace kids in a corner
lol

I was at dortmund 4 weeks ago, and I was at palace last night, there was more in the 'yellow wall' than there was at palace last night. I like their sentiment, if it happened at the SOL I'd imagine id want to be part of it, but it literally was about 60-100 people and no more than 5-6 flags, and reading their forum it seems like an us and them battle. Don't think it works to be honest and as said don't really think that culture will kick off over here.

You are right that it will never take off over here. You look at the likes of Germany and Turkey, and almost everyone, of all ages, is singing and bouncing about. Over here singing is seen as something kids do, so you basically get a small group singing and the rest just sitting there in silence apart from the odd roar of encouragement or monaing and groaning at misplaced passes etc.

So what's your point?

That many on here are hyocritical moaning knackers who can never be pleased. Man utd sing al game, slated. Palace do, in a different manner, slated. Then we have our own singing end slated every week.
I wasn't slating them at all. I merely pointed out to someone who was slating them last night reasons why they wouldn't be as formidable as last season.

The sky commentators saw enough and heard enough to mention them time and time again last night mind.
Yeah and we will always get a mention at home even though we have quiet, irritable games as a people. The Roker Roar label has stuck, Derby day atmosphere is renowned but there are several flat as fuck match day experiences over a season due to form, kick off times, alcohol consumption (or not), performances but the commentators will still go on about our phenomenally loud fans, even though in truth, when you are sitting/standing in the middle of it, you know it's generally only for the first 20 minutes, and unless we score fizzles out soon enough.

Besides the PVA booing, those ultras are class. I was tapping my foot to the beat.

Wish SAFC could do something like that!

Our early leavers get mentioned every game, not sure about atmosphere these days.

People will always slate 'ultras' and singing ends, it's like the cool, snooty down the nose look at charvers and the likes. Portsmouth were outstanding at creating an atmosphere, used to enjoy their televised matches in the premier league but people use to bleat on about the bloody racket and the bells and stuff. Miserable fuckers.
