Even if you think it's shite, it embarrassingly is one of the better atmospheres in the premier league.
Sky love it aswell, always showing their fans standing up jumping around, which I don't understand as it contradicts all seated stadia. - surely this is reason for those in power to do something about it - all out fans stood, theirs do in places, the current policy is a shambles which no one (including obviously sky with their constant wanking over the crazy corner of ultras)

Btw , I think palace fans are ok - they've gone through a lot of shit , including lots being thrown out / banned, to get where they are today , accepted (in sort) by the ground/stewards.
If we were losing 1-0 to palace at home there is no way our atmosphere would be as good as theirs last night

Had a quick skeg of the Palace forum yesterday and it seems quite a lot of their fans are sick of the Ultras. Seems like their is a bit of an us v them attitude kicking about

Just like our place with the south stand wanting to stand and create an atmosphere, and a lot of fans wanting them all to sit down.
Always going to happen. People love to moan.

Imagine being sat/stood behind one of those wassocks waving those git flags?
Imagine being sat in a stadium where every stand was like our east stand!
You need a bit of both surely marra?

When they have been scratching about at the bottom end of the prem for a few years we will see whether they can still be arsed to bounce up and down. Its sucks the life out of you eventually.

Of course you do, and I'm sure that all of the fans in that corner were quite happy to be there, I just wonder at times how many of them are there to watch the football, or are just there for effect?
The enthusiasm of the fans should be generated by the performance and or actions of their team on the pitch, not some choreographed performance.

The East stand is full of some of our loyalist fans. Always very well populated and very high ratio of season ticket holders. Might not bounce and doesnt pretend to but as you say takes both.

Tremendous post

They're not really doing any harm, I just think it's a bit too spurious for the English game. I can't really see them lasting the next 5 years in all honesty, a few relegations will punch that out of them.

Then you'd just have people singing when winning and moaning when losing.

Been around since 2005 mind.

If Sky put their microphones near our south stand for the whole match it would probably seem as loud. I wasn't at Selhurst, so if I'm wrong then please accept my apologies, but I bet most of their fans are like the majority of ours - join in with the odd chant and shout a bit now and then. If you constantly focus on the 100 bouncing dickheads and mic them up then on the telly it's going to seem like they've got the best atmosphere in the league. Plus their capacity is half what most stadiums hold, so if 2,000 fans are singing all match thats about 10% for them, but 5% for grounds like the SOL, and even less for the biggest grounds.

I love how when you see games from the likes of Dortmund and Galatasaray, they are all bouncing along and singing and it looks class.. Even Roma against City when they scored looked amazing, then you come to England and ours is apparently the 100 Palace kids in a corner
lol

No you wouldn't, have you never heard the crowd get up when there's a thunderous tackle or a prolonged spell of pressure?
I understand what you're saying, but choreographed *support* is crap, why don't we get some scantily clad cheerleaders waving their pom poms by the side of the pitch while we're at it?

Thought they were canny, better than 90% of the league anyway. Could hear them throughout.

Everyone on here hates the 'ultras' but it is essentially a group of young lads bouncing about enjoying the game and having a laugh. Fair play to them, they're doing no harm.

It's fake, choreographed shite and is pretty cringeworthy tbh. Next they'll have someone at the front with a loudspeaker

Half of them probably don't even know what the score was.

the a-league clubs have similar 'ultra' groups here... i'm not a big fan to be honest. noise doesn't necessarily mean atmosphere. it's just singing by numbers... you can set your watch to the songs. no spontaneity, no originality.

Our players were shit scared apparently or words to that effect I read in the match thread last night, so shit scared they banged two goals in right in front of them.

Tremendous post

What do you think of them, btw? I'm right in thinking you're the guy who comes up with original songs and praises the Man United fans on a regular basis?

To me, that is everything these Palace fans aren't. As others have said, there's no spontaneity, no passion or anything like that. It's just a performance. It's horrible.

They're really funny. Cannot believe grown men are prepared to carry on like that on camera. It's hilarious.
