Well drilled & organised.

Performance of the season for me

And what was even better was that the lads clearly bought into it. They carried out the game plan to perfection after 2 seasons of being pretty gung ho.
This. For me possibly the most disciplined I've seen us play. You could see the temptation to chase down the centre backs when they had the ball but they refrained.

Not the most entertaining football but an absolute pleasure to watch.

Funny that now we've ditched putting possession as most important, the lads are now playing with that zip again.
You can also tell there's been work done defensively as well as attack when it comes to set pieces in both half's.

A very noticeable change in tactics performances.

I wasn't too comfortable watching us defending deep for prolonged periods of the game, but sometimes needs must, and The Lads stood up brilliantly to the probing Leeds attacks, and were solid throughout.

A hard fought victory, and a real confidence boost of matching & beating, one of the best teams in the division.

Considering how sh@t we’ve been before the two previous games.. it’s like we were back to ourselves ..

Just need some kicking practice for patto

Whoever comes in I hope there's a coaching role for Dodds (and Procter,) the players seem to really respect his tactical nous, and obviously Jobe is a big fan and probably was massively influenced to come here by him, wouldn't want to lose that.

I've said in a different thread that we saw a different Sunderland tonight.

Under Mowbray its been one particular way hell or high water.

Its great to see Dodds mixing it up for the opposition. I think I'd forgotten that these young lads can do that.

Thats all we asked of Mowbray for his last 4 or 5 games and he wouldnt do it.
The club were correct to act.

Fantastic to see. Loved that performance as much as some of our attacking performances.

Top class organisation from Doddsy.

Proper tactics on show tonight

Went with that selection to compact and restrict them and then went a bit more direct with Robert’s as an outlet.

We could have scored 2/3 and limited them to nothing really.

More tactics, coaching and game management in 90 mins tonight than all of Mowbray tenure

First 10-20mins were ropey, but once the team start to get more comfortable with the change in approach, leeds rarely looked threatening and we stated to kick on. We did what teams would do to us. Allow them to pass between the CBs and hold your formation then press once it starts to get into our half. Inevitably it led to their defenders getting frustrated or panicked and playing a pass the didn't want to (usually long)

Tactically to produce that on the back of a couple of hours in the classroom and half a day on the grass is ridiculous.

A total tactic shift from our usual set up, it a couple of tweaks. A whole change.

Speaks highly of him, his team and the players

We let them play in front of us, not behind, picked our moments and could have won more convincingly. Patterson wasnt tested, the defence kept goal.

Was expecting a late kick in the balls when they were going for it, but the team defended brilliantly and it rattled them. Their manager was rattled to fuck at full time and sounded like he was going to cry during the interview post match. He really didn’t see that loss coming. They’re a good side and we matched them all over. What a defensive display from Hume, Huggins, ONien, Ballard and Seelt.

Excellent performance. Keeping them to so few chances was brilliant a real credit to all concerned.

That’s 7 home wins now the same as the whole of last season.

If we can improve our away form, and dare we say it, invest some money into a proven striker in January we’ll have a fighting chance of making the play offs.
