Well done to the BBC

They have known for months and months. Plenty of time to give FIFa the right of reply. And by the way your use of smilies is a bit shit......mate.

And FIFA have known for months and months who was going to host the world cups man that how corrupt they are so dont go blaming the BBC for this. We need now to get stuck into FIFA not our own....

You must be still at school if you believe that you really need to understand what is going on here to give an educated answer, the corruption is so deep in FIFA that this vote was a formality and all the noises you have been hearing about how well out bid was doing was mere soundbites from FIFA delgates whilst they were filling their pockets with the money of others.....

Damn right, the voting process was about as democratic and unbiased as X Factor.

Blatter should have applauded the BBC and stated his commitment to eradicating corruption from FIFA. Instead he's now publically stated that whoever's media doesn't toe the line gets nothing. Is it FIFA or the BBC that's in the wrong here?

FIFA is clearly wrong but it is becoming clearer and clearer that this programme and the timing has potentially cost us the WC. The point to be debated is whether it was worth it.

it depends on how you define blame.

If you use it, like a lot of the fools on here are, as a comment to castigate the BBC with and criticise, then I'd disagree.

It does seem like one of the reasons we have lost is because of the BBC and other media.

However, if that's the case - how the fuck are the BBC's the ones in the wrong, and Fifa get off scot free.

Once again, do you want the British media to only report things that are good for this country?

Because, for about the fiftieth time, the BBC dealt our bid a huge blow for NO APPARENT REASON. They exposed nothing, proved nothing, and rolled out a sensationalist programme cleverly edited to show us that some bloke may have discovered something about some people doing something, which can't be proven by anybody.

The end result may well have been (although we'll now never know what would have happened if they hadn't fucked the bid over) that they've cost the economy millions and deprived the national sport of a huge boost in this country.

How can this be justified? It can't and that's the point.

Classic SMB come-back! ha........rule number 1 if any disagreement ensues, accuse the other person of being a schoolboy.... rule number 2, if that fails accuse him of being a "so-called" fan, rule number 3, if he still disagrees with you, assume he is a mag. ffs

anyway....... not sure it was a cut and dried decision tbh mate. i think we stood a good chance. and tbh we may still have lost it even without the bbc documentary. I think it certainly damaged the bid however and reduced our chances.

What we have gained remains a mystery, and still unanswered.

If it had been a close run thing and the Panorama dealie had lost it for us than you could say there was an ethical debate here.

But England have been publicly fucked from the beginning, all sorts of delegates and diplomats and members of the board pissing on about things in our general direction. We got two votes. f***ing two. We came last, after Holland and Belgium. Never stood a chance. Fifa have not done one thing in the last f***ing decade in our favour, this is par for the course.

So, you're against free press then?

report what is good for the country?

Just checking. Say hi to little adolf for me :lol:

On the contrary, I'm against state sponsored, largely unaccountable press. I'm the one arguing against the BBC's actions here, remember?

Mind, supposing the BBC had anything it do with it at all, wouldn't it be mildly worrying to say the least that our bid was rejected and humiliated by FIFA because of it...

Not that it was like. Something is rotten in the State of Zurich...

What does it need to do to be justified? Sackings, arrests, executions?

It had evidence of corruption (and it did, you can brush past that all you like, but it showed the delegates taking payments from ISL), and reported them.

The fact that Fifa chose not to act on it, and won't do anything about it other than 'take their ball home', is not the fault of the BBC (who were doing their job).

It is the fault of the corrupt bastards in Fifa.

FFS man, if a witness in a murder trial has his wife threatened by associates of the accused, is it the witnesses fault?

Can't think of a better time to expose them than when they're so in the limelight.

Well that comes down to which you would prefer.

Option 1: A world in which FIFA corruption is exposed, but remains corrupt (it hasn't been acted upon as some people implicated are still acting members of FIFA, so no consequence to the people involved) and we lose the world cup bid

Option 2: FIFA is corrupt behind closed doors, and we win the world cup bid.

Option 2 for me every day of the week.

So the BBC aired a show that they knew would have no impact on FIFA corruption and in fact the only consequence would be to undermine the world cup bid?

All that is required for Evil to prevail is for good men to stand by and do nothing, eh?;)

and teh BBC are allowed to keep a free press. or are you suggesting the government wanted the documentary, and made the BBC report it?

I'm confused by what point you're trying to make with that one, to be honest. I'd go as far as say you're talking shit

I don't think for one minute that these crooks decided the outcome this week. However, Sepp Blatter allegedly 'reminded' the executive at a meeting this week about 'certain media organisations.' We wouldn't have finished last IMO without these hacks but then it doesn't matter where you finish if you don't win

So the BBC aired a show that they knew would have no impact on FIFA corruption and in fact the only consequence would be to undermine the world cup bid?

So are you suggesting the BBC comply with the corruption, and hide it?

So you actively want corruption then?

You should be a judge, you do live the difference between right and wrong.

Like a real life Judge John Deed you.

If they continue to do so, then yes, it is worth it imho. there's now no doubt that FIFA and UEFA do not want us to ever host a World Cup again, so let's get right after them and expose them for what they are.

I'll happily swap a World Cup for a completely transparent, fair and independently monitored organising body.
