Well done to the BBC

Who says that the outcome of the bid has anything to do with corruption? The Panorama programme aired the other day was a complete damp squib. Even if it was significant evidence of corruption, which it WASN'T, the BBC could have easily aired it in two weeks time. They didn't - they chose to air it the night before the vote and that was an absolute disgrace.

If rumours are to be believed we were the first bid eliminated, despite having the strongest bid on most fronts. You can't possibly tell me that the controversy caused by the BBC's brain-fart didn't have a huge impact.

I can't possibly tell you that, but it's true, and it was true the last time we bid - when we were also eliminated in the first round and it went to Germany instead.

One half hour tv programme did not make that difference, and was anyway preceded by articles in the Murdoch press which said the same thing.

Who will of course be battering the BBC tomorrow. There'll be a reservoir of jizz in Wapping after that announcement.

Anybody who thinks Panorama cost us the World Cup is a raging f***ing idiot.

If you want to bury your head in the sand and pretend FIFA are not dodgy, then blame the BBC all you like.

I'd rather have the information that they presented than not.

What snivelling shite.

"Don't say bad things about them, they might not give us the lickle tournament'.

Fuck them.

What difference would that make? They don't have advertising slots to sell and they aren't a commercial enterprise -we have to hand our money over to them by law so they don't care how many are watching.

The BBC has long out-lived it's purpose. This whole episode demonstrates once and for all that the BBC DOES NOT act in the national interest and as long as it doesn't, I see no reason why the people of this country should be legally obliged to fund it.

It's a disgrace and they have a lot to answer for.

What a f***ing tool, its THE ONLY decent broadcaster in this country.

The BBC's funding should be halted tomorrow. Let them survive in the commercial world.

Precisely.

The BBC was established in a time when the state-marshalled, compulsary funding of a media source made sense. Those days are long gone.

Well done the BBC for running with it in my opinion. We were NEVER going to get it. Nowt to do with the BBC. I just hope they go after FIFA with more venom now.
