Well, another depressing season ahead.

How can you say that with so long left in the window?

Have some faith marra
Its got nowt to do with how long is left in the transfer window. The posters above are correct - we shoud have the " quality" players that dick identified we needed ( as did 45,000 others ) in now or within the next week or so to enable them to bed into the team before the season starts, not last minute panic buys on 31/08 when we have played a few games !!

Anyone else get the feeling it'll be the same old shite served up?

It's going to be a long, bleak season.

I'll still be going mind :(

I do, yes. It has not been any different for the last 11 seasons in the PL. Why change now? Tactics and formations that fall apart like a cheap suit and in half the time. Players that are as slow as most invertebrates - and with a much of a backbone. Players who couldn't pass water. They know as much about how to kick a ball as I do. A winning form so bad we have to go back to the Wigan (H) win in the 12-13 season to count back to the same number of wins Chelsea won last season. I think we will struggle badly too. We will just about stay up. Just.

suddenly we have a good mid table team in my view

but at the moment it is a but worrying seeing everyone else strengthening the way they are

As an outsider I think you will really struggle and you better hope that the promoted clubs don't make a fist of it. The established clubs with potential to go down IMO are:

Newcastle
Leicester
Aston Villa
West Brom
Sunderland

Newcastle now have a full time manager and will make about four very good signings and should be fine. You can't rule out last year's form though and the team that stayed up was abysmal.
Leicester need to get a good new manager in and if they do they should be fine. They're spending a lot of money and were the form team in the PL last nine games.
Aston Villa looked like a mid table team under Sherwood and have made some good buys.
West Brom will be there or thereabouts for sure.
Sunderland could actually regress, they have a lot of players in their thirties and could age overnight. They could lose AJ and be forced to keep Alvarez. There transfer business has been totally uninspiring and there's every chance it won't improve the first XI.

I think it will be three from five that go with Sunderland. West Brom and the three promoted clubs likely to fill the relegation spots.

Been there one season and stayed up by the skin of their teeth.

Fancy a pint before the match. It's just that all my mates complain that I always look on the negative side of supporting sunderland and I get the feeling you could make it look like I have a positive attitude !

Because Matthews said it did. Apparently he attended training at Celtic one day, the next day his agent tells him that Celtic have received and accepted an offer and the next day it is signed and sealed.
Fair enough, I haven't read any of his interviews since he signed. It doesn't mean that one day they just went "fuck it, let's sign this lad." Football clubs and their transfer people have databases with hundreds of potential targets on. It's not uncommon for a transfer to be wrapped up in a couple of days either, without it being in the press until the last minute. I'd prefer it that way anyway, than weeks and weeks of it being in the public eye.

By "established" I mean clubs that are not newly promoted.

Leicester are in no worse a position than West Brom, Aston Villa and Sunderland for personnel and finances.

Just you and Peruzzi on suicide watch so far mate. Have some faith mate.

Well I've always faith that summat is just around the corner but let's face it. It's normally summat boring.

Hopefully I'll be incorrect and we will have an amazing season.

It would just be nice to have some positive vibes through signings etc early on so as not to have to expect the inevitable.

I know what you are saying but this season I believe that the players are fully behind our manager whereas I dont think that was the case atthe start of the last two seasons. DA has already shown he can get a results out of the players we already have and I honestly think we will get in the extra quality he is looking for. Just might take a little time thats all

It's the 12th of July though. So your "next week or so" is still quite doable to get player(s) in.

Do you also not think the club are actively trying to do it? These things take time, it's not as easy as saying "I want him - get him" is it? Anyone who thinks that is clueless.

Some of this is absolute petulance by some of our supporters. I want big signings and I want them now - grow up.

Ps . I will, however, agree with your argument if when the transfer window closes we are at this point... but not yet.

KTF.

The f***ing transfer window has only been open a few weeks man ffs, Dick's already said we want value for money so wont have our pants pulled down with teams knowing we'll have a few quid to spend! Dick openly said we need another 3/4 in, wait and see what he brings in before you start wetting yourself!
See I could swear he said we needed 6 quality additions

The difference is we have Dick in charge from the start, not Poyet. Even with last season's team we would get to 50 points if they performed to the same level as they did the last nine games. Now with Dick from the start, a full pre-season and no doubt a few extra better players (be patient), we should kick on. Chill out people, we have a guy who knows what he's doing in charge.

But Poyet got one point more than Dick managed from the last 9 games of the previous season......did that lead to the players performing to that level subsequently? Why didn't we kick on.....it was the same owner, the same CEO and the same DOF.

Mid table? A little ambitious, don't you think, when we know nothing about these players and we have a history of poor signings?
