Weird seaside towns

Sandown on the Isle of Wight. Stayed there a year ago, got some nice restaurants and the zoo is worth a look but it was like a ghost town at times, hardly anything still open on the seafront.

Amble's class man. I mean it's easy for me to say as I've got a few mates up there and have spent numerous days of my life stumbling about their place away with the fairies but I always get a proper nostalgic old village community feel whenever I visit. The main street is always packed in an age where everything is done via a remote, mobile phone or a computer and everyone knows everyone. Couple of proper traditional chippys, 2 or 3 real pubs within 50 yards of each other 20 odd miles away from the hustle and bustle of city life and plenty of proper MLFs who go home and away despite residing 50 miles who always look out for each other in amongst a sea of black and white fuckers.
Went to middle and high school there and I can confirm that to live in Amble is certainly far from glamourous, a real shithole in certain parts. Can’t believe how much coke floats about the place on a Bank Holiday mind, especially in The Tav

Went to Filey w few years ago, place was ok but there was this one strange shop that seemed to specialise in Nazi memorabilia
Where's this place then?
I love a wander down the beach and a strawberry waffle from Filey. A bit of Nazi memorabilia thoug, you can't get that anywhere else ;)

Withernsea near Hull.
f***ing hell, yes. Royston Vasey by the Sea.

Went to Mablethorpe once and there was a sandstorm. Expected Lawrence of Arabia to turn up on a camel.

Hornsea is like someone started building it, gave up part way through as a bad job, walked away from it and started on Bridlington. And Bridlington is like someone started building it, gave up part way through as a bad job, walked away from it and started on Scarborough.

I was told Eyemouth was a really nice place to visit. It isnt.

Giaccopazzi’s ice cream is amazing though.

Certainly looks that way, read the reviews from The Grand, bloody awful

Its a shame , we went 3 years in a row in the mid 70s and I thought it was a great place as a nipper - I guess 4 decades of everyone taking their spending money on package holidays abroad has absolutely fucked the UK resorts.
